You can count on us rectifying this!

What is the logical rationale behind that?

Dunno, just hate how teams turn there form around agaist us for some reason, wanna find some form and get ur season going, play us. I just hate it.

yes! golf nice analogy.

difference is golf is an individual sport. I'm also assuming you are a weekend golfer? not getting flown over to St Andrew's or anything right?

anyway when it's twenty two guys and a team of coaches and runners to tweak... its meant to average all out a bit more than what happens to you Saturday mornings.

I considered the "individual" thing, but I still think it applies. (And yes I was only a weekend hack).

If we simply put performance into "poor", "average", "good" then I would suggest that if we have too many
players have a "poor" day then we're in trouble against a reasonable opposition. Not rocket science that
I suppose.

My point of contention is the idea that the players are not really trying or have gone soft. I just don't buy it. I think that the fluctuations are more in skill level than intent. Many times I've heard post match reviews from a losing coach and he'll talk about how the players "looked" switch on before the game.

Looking at our two losses I reckon it was skill errors that cost us more than anything.

We're 5-2 and have won two tough games, (Freo, Coll). We're going ok.

BigKev players don't lose their skills from one match to another. What happens more likely than not is they are put under more pressure and waiste their disposal more often.
To over come this in the game a player must work harder and want to win the contested ball more than the opposition this also brings his team mates into the game.
They need to stand up.
This hasn't happened in the two loses so far.
They tend to take the easy option and let the opposition take the ball and not contest, from there it becomes harder.
You must work harder when not in possession to retrieve the ball and reduce the chance of a scoring shot.
Again hasn't happened.
When players are switched on the above two scenarios are reduced and the team looks good and premiership contenders.
When a team aren't switched on or not allowed to play their way and don't work hard enough and don't put up a fight when not in possession they are soft.

I agree with you Redback on everything except the highlighted line. I'm not saying they "lose" their skills, just that fluctuations in performance
are part of the human condition. I'm certainly not suggesting that you can't try to find ways to compensate. I think maturity has a lot to
do with that -- being able to recognise when it's not your day and adjusting your game accordingly. Ultimately though, and I believe anyone who
has played any sport will know, some days things just work for you and some days they don't.

Give him the next 6 games to have a real crack at it.

Shown nothing at any stage so far. He's the current version of LIvo

Aah Livo. #4 pick as a CHF and never played there.
That's how to muck someone up.

Maybe the fact they havent won in Melbourne for 3 years.

Maybe cos the fact the leading goal kicker in the comp is out and we can double team Tippet.

Carlton will win, i have a good feeling about the this game.

As poor as we were last week, we'll win this one for all those reasons. We've also got a wee bit of ammo from just about every journo in town, and hopefully pride in the jumper.

If we lose........... :yikes:

Our form is putrid, theirs is not.
Prior to their recent dip, they owned us.
The Dome still seems to own us.

I hope you're right.

Ratts said today that "we just need to apply ourselves and tinker with a couple of little things" Not sure what the little thing is that he is tinkering with.

Bower & Russell not being a part of the extended bench is disappointing, they are two who deserve to be dropped, sort of tells us Thornton & Collins wont get a guernsey. Which they deserve.
We cant keep carrying players that its a coin toss whether they play well or not, Bower & Russells best is impressive (at times) but majority of the time they lack the consistency and their skill & decision errors prove costly every week.
For me:
Out- Joseph, Russell & Bower
In- Yarran, Collins & Thornton

On notice- Duigan & Gibbs

Gibbs on a wing playing Stanton type role.
Scotland loose across HB
Ellard in guts from get go
Army to Sloane
Duigan to Porpus
Defensive fwd on Johncock
Hendo on Tippett
Curnow sub

Gibbs at start of interview says hes not feeling the pressure, thinks his forms been good, clubs at 5-2. Why can't Bryce just say hes been down on form, will look to improve this week, and team knows they need to be better. It's that simple. Some of these players mindsets are not grounded in reality.

Oh, I get that, aren't you clever?

Perhaps Ratts knows a little more about our issues over the last few weeks than you and we don't need to make the wholesale changes people here are looking for.

Better balance in defence.
Plan to free up the stoppages or cope with the congestion.
Free up Murphy and whoever else they tag.

I had forgotten about Collins entirely. Might be handy up forward.

The key to stopping Adelaide's back half run is making Johncock accountable. They always go though him. Stop him and it puts pressure on their other back half players to play un-natural games.
