Not happy with those selections.

Last week should not be tolerated and I cannot understand how the positions of Bower, Russell and Duigan are assured.

My gut feeling is that Ratten is too close to some players to make the tough call.

IMO bench should be Collins, Ellard, Robinson & Thornton.

Russell should be sub and think himself lucky.

Yeah, like your selections more Psyche, we have 23 with 4 interchange and JR as sub.

I'll get shouted down for this.

But why can't Watson be developed as our key fwd?
Is he injured or in poor form?

Give him the next 6 games to have a real crack at it.

Looking at our two losses I reckon it was skill errors that cost us more than anything.

We're 5-2 and have won two tough games, (Freo, Coll). We're going ok.

And that my friend is how I saw it.

Henderson's miss by 6 inches cost us, when we could have turned that switch into a goal = 12 points
The misses from at least 6 other players (no need for more names).....you know the rest.

WE had the chance to win it but didn't...same as last year against WCE in WA, and on the flip side, if Milne kicked a goal in the last minute of the 2010 GF allowed Collingwood to draw the GF...a bit of luck there, but that happens.

I don't think we are way way back of the pack because of a loss against 2 teams within 7 rounds of footy.

A bit of perspective. It's about what we can do and can achieve that counts in 2012.
We are playing for a top 4 spot and we're sitting 4th with the highest %...on track I say.

Once we achieve that goal...everyone knows (unless you're in lala land) everyone has a chance...that includes us.

I just hope and truly believe the MC and players aren't pessimists...like me.
IMO we are a better chance than Saints and Bumbers to win the big one...I have plenty of reasons why.

Lets win this weekend...one week at a time.

Most likely Curnow, but I'd like to see Collins have a run at half-forward and Walker spend more time in the middle.

Did Robinson receive treatment for a leg injury during the game? Has he trained?

Agree with TBB about Walker in the middle...he did get pinged for running too far but it was exciting seeing him win the ball and run away from everyone else.

Based upon his form this year - not just last week - Russell is very lucky to be in the squad. It may be time to move on to Bootsma or Kerr or anyone else. Since his runner up B&F he has gone backwards and seems to have lost all confidence.

There is nothing that convinces me that our accuracy in front of goal is going to improve this year.

Again a mental issue with rushing shots and making wrong decisions contributing.

I mentioned this in TalkingNorthern...

I think he's toast as a defender and might be a real asset at chf... tall, big body and sweet left foot from outside 50

That will leave us tall i reckon. Someone tall or sluggish has to come out of the backline.

Duigan and Bower out or just one of the two. Duigan out because of form. Bower to give us a different mix in the back half. A mix that gobbles up ground balls and turns them into attack. Bower is looking better than Jamo but I doubt we will see

I would like a back six of

Touhy jamo Yaz
Gibbs Henda Russ/Collins/Scotland

We get beaten more at ground level or not being quick defending a counter than we do in the air. Even if a third tall kicks a couple we can balance that out with defensive ground ball wins and turning them into attack. Tighten up that midfield to. No easy outlets for them if they pinch it off us.

Just about every top side has a CHF, a FF and a resting ruck. Footy is more contested again these daysw therefore strong marking key forwards are important. Hence Thornton in for mine. Given Waite, while tall, could be a midfield type too we don't lose anything in mobility.

Still reckon we dont need that 3 tall defender unless the reliable Laidler is fit. I dont think Adelaide have 3 tall forwards even with Walker and there resting ruck wouldnt be too hard to move of the ball.
If the midfield are doing their job there should be so much heat on the ball that our defenders like Gibbs and Russ should be able to pick it off.

I am sure players can come out of the 18 named not just the bench. They can any week. The team gets named 1hr before the game.
Providing you dont name a player that isnt selected (inc emergencies) then you are not in trouble.

Yes, Yes, Yes.

But I would say give him Mel and Port. Esp if Waite injured. If he shows something - give him a taste of Geelong, WC, CW, H

It boggles the mind why we as a collective group of supporters dont learn our lesson with talls. It takes 5-6 yrs in the system.

HE IS NOT YET 20.

What is the logical rationale behind that?
