yes! golf nice analogy.

difference is golf is an individual sport. I'm also assuming you are a weekend golfer? not getting flown over to St Andrew's or anything right?

anyway when it's twenty two guys and a team of coaches and runners to tweak... its meant to average all out a bit more than what happens to you Saturday mornings.

I reckon these guys are wrong. It's not like Essendon* and St.Kilda were the only teams to try and
"rough us up". Every team tries it. Carlton aren't soft. We lost because of poor ball use.
Why did this happen? Who knows. Anyone here play golf? Do you play your best round every
week? I know I didn't -- and it wasn't because of a lack of effort or "toughness". Fluctuations
in form are just part of the human condition. We are a good side, but we're not good
enough to beat even mid-range teams if we're having a down day.

"Down form" doesn't last forever though -- I woudn't be surprised if we cream Adelaide.

PS - Thanks for all videos Wookie. Really appreciate your efforts.

Well said Big fella

Probably the most crusial game of the season so far for us. We need to win this.
6/2 with (planning ahead)
Melb - yes
Port - yes
WC, CW, Haw, Geel. 2/4 realistically. 0/4 Panakin Skywalker, 1/4 not good enough, 3/4 excellent, 4/4 This forum would shut down overnight due to inactivity.
North - yes
WB - yes
Rich - yes
Steak and Kidney - yes
Bions - yes
Ess in latter part of season - yes
Gold Coast - rest players in lead up to finals
St Kilda - ? Good shot at finals like pressure.

Say we lose 2 in the latter part of year gives us 16/6 - which 2 years ago (2011 an anomaly) puts us top 4

What's the bet there will be 3-4 up with no one down this week.
All in the stoppages with no outside run.
Everyone wanting to give the goal to his team mate and not take it himself.
Readjustment overload.

Already trialled this one against the Saints a couple of times. Worked well :yikes:

Goodness...
whole new world!!

This foe thing reminds me of the time a friend brought over her new highland terrier puppy.
For the 1st hour or so, our dog played with it, humoured it, hec, she enjoyed the puppies enthusiasm.
By the 2nd hour, she could not find a place high enough to get out of reach of this puppies constant need for attention which was mainly nipping on the face anyway.
Hour 3, and sounds emanated from our poor dog, that we didn't know she could make,
sheer, hellish frustration.
if only she'd had access to the magic button.

If anything I reckon its closer to midfielders being like your bowlers in test cricket. In particular post-Warne/McGrath.

Can't rely on just the one bowler to rack them up any more (Judd). The current structure with Murph reminds me of entrusting Mitch Johnson with the new ball, as they hadn't planned for the future and relied too heavily on his x-factor based mainly on one game in Perth.

Judd almost plays a role similiar to Brett Lee now. We just haven't got the blokes who are able to step up and form a midfield team, rather than being satisfied with their individual output. No real workhorse Siddle/Hilf/Harris types who play above themselves with G&D, no Cummins/Pattinson hot young prospects either.

If Waite goes out, surely Tbird comes in.
I would love to see something slightly different, mainly Tex play 4 quarters in the middle!
Rotate hammer and Kreuz forward with Tbird, possibly Gibbs and the 2 amigos!
Yarran back to half back.

Tex is a tough nugget, is super quick and can run for hours! Get him in the middle

Why are today's sides so reluctant to change anything up, even when it's CLEARLY not working?
What do we have to lose, if we don't change a thing we shouldn't expect different results

Interesting just listening to Cam Mooney on Bryce Gibbs. Said he's as strong as an ox. Spoke about two body contest he had with Gibbs thinking he had him being smaller, and Gibbs got him both times. Mooney feels he should play HBF, on an opponent, as he reads and uses it so well. I'm thinking whether we should use that up forward this week, especially with Waite looking like being out.

Thanks for sharing that with us jim.

Gibbs beat the bigger opponent with strength...when Gibbs was much younger...that was 2 years ago.
Mooney must be thinking an Enright or Hunt role who both have strength and skills to be the Cats' playmakers.
We saw how important those players were for the Cats when they were shut down by the Crows.

We have to win this week...have to.

Not too concerned at losing Waite because we can use TBird in that role at CHF, but Yarran....he's much needed for his run, breaking lines and distribution.

I'm not happy with Duigan at present: HE NEEDS A REST, BUT WHO COMES IN TO COMPETE WITH THE MATURE BODIES OF THE cROWS.

If Yarran is in I'm not sure why we wouldn't start Gibbs forward. He was a goal kicking mid/Hf in south Australia before we picked him up. I can understand why he was pushed back when our goal kicking coming out of defence wasn't great but with Scotland and Yarran we should be able to cover this.
