Ahh to top it all off. I accidently badly injured BMjnr during training last Sunday, thus this week has been a series of trips to Drs, MRIs and specialists although I knew pretty much knew how much damage I had done ( protruding disc in the neck and upper back to add to the two existing in the lower back).

BMjnr has been really good about it although I have felt like shite all week.

You subluxated a vertebrae in his neck??

Ah yeah something like that. He's out of BJJ for between two to four months. Although he has already started training around the injury. We will go for a modifed training regime and when he gets back onto the mat it is no neck chokes or holds and a lot of drills rather than free rolls. I have gone over the incident a million times in my head. I had top position and working for a varition of a arm bar when BMjnr swept (roll me over) I tried to hold him close to my chest once over and work for a antoher armbar by pushing my hip outs and swinging my legs into place. I think thats when the BMjnrs neck was cranked. I missed the armbar and BMjnr got a collar choke on. Tap, tap. BMjnr said he didn't notice until after we separated and rolled onto his back. Then he noticed.

How are things travelling with your missus Freddy?
Are you OK?

Just thinkin of you both.

My old man at 82 has pulled through his therapy well it seems.

Just thinkin of you and the challenge of getting better.

Has the club shown some respect?

Firstly my wife is doing well, all things considered. She has had her operation and has just completed her 3rd of 6 chemo sessions. it's a hard road for her but her attitude and spirit is inspiring. Her network of friends have been a great support to both of us. I have been through this with other loved ones and you have good days and bad days. We will get through this.

Secondly, I did receive a letter of appreciation from the club. Quite honestly it does not mean a lot to me. Only one person from Carlton, another member of the stats team, has contacted me enquiring about my wife's health. I don't know whether I expect too much but I still feel let down by an organisation that I gave over 20 years of continual service to. As yet I have not attended a game. I watch every week, thankfully live, and enjoy watching my team, Carlton will always be my team.

Again, thanks to all from TC for their support and good wishes.

Go Blues.

The other thing I wanted to say was that every cancer patient is a hero.

Again, thanks for all the support.

Just a couple of things.

When I first started honorary officials were shown appreciation. We were invited to the Guernsey Presentation, the Best & Fairest night and received a Social Club Membership gratis. Over the years all these privileges have been removed although we could buy tickets to the functions at a reduced cost (10% discount).

Honorary officials qualify for life membership after 15 years of service. It is not automatic, you have to be nominated (I don’t know by whom).

As yet, I have not heard from one person associated with the club.

My wife’s op is tomorrow.
Good luck, hope all goes well!.
