The only coaches that Ratts has outcoached this year are Vossy (and thank goodness we didnt get him), Buckley (a rookie coach) and Hardwick.

I would argue he broke even with Lyon, if Sheedy had more mature players we would have really struggled and clearly outcoached by rookies in Hird and Waters.

No Caz,

You get back to me when we win a premiership. No one has said we won't play finals. My arguement, and keep this post as a record is we will not win a premiership with Ratten at the helm. The game plan/style does not win premeriships for all the reasons listed previously. We might be lucky in an even year and sneak a top 4 finish but I even doubt our capacity to win 2 finals. And sorry there is a point where the gradual improvement arguement doesn't wash and I reckon when you have been at the helm for over 100 games .....the gradual improvement arguement starts to wear thin.

Note: You could finish 9th and gradually improve over 7 years and finish second.

For what its worth when do you think Ratten has had enough time to get a result. If we don't make top 4 is it time to move on?

Clarity hit me today after the dust settled from Monday night. How are Hawthorn, Geelong, Collingwood doing ATM? The strategy is not to peak in round 7. Yes it hurts that Essendon* are flying, but werent they this time last year? Weren't the media talking top 4 for them round 7 last year? How did that work out for them? Lets judge in October how are team list, game plan, coaching staff are because I reckon maybe, just maybe we have it right.

Panic merchant arguement doesn't wash. 2007-2012....come on 120 games so far....what is your time limit?

What ideas have you got?

Here is another one you can carpet bag

Retire Scotland and make him Captain of the seconds?
Get an ex afl coach to coach Bullants?
All bullant home games to be played at Visy Park
Mirror Geelong and trade our pick between 18 & 25 for two in the 20s or one in the 20s and one in the 30s.
Consider Trading Jamieson if you get a first rounder

My point is my ideas may not be the right one but where is the momentum, lateral thinking & progression since dick left? Pick 11 for Mclean doesn't cut it. (I have to admit the Fevola deal was a good one and demonsrates the type of thinking required but that was nearly 3 years ago).

Pagan coached us for 100 without even making the finals

But it is an interesting thought - I heading to google

there are only 4 other current coaches with over 100 games

Sheedy 647 games
Lyon 128 games
Clarkson 170 games
Worsfold 235 games

3 have won flages and lyon has taken them to a flag twice

Please explain?...The TC banner with our boys on there???

The advertising bondi. This site goes nuts in terms of posts and visitors when we lose. Just asking everyone to click once for each post they make and this site will easily put it's kids through private school.

Gotcha...I'm good for it!

he might join that illustrious group one day!

huge chance!

just needs to live long enough and sticks also.

he is the fifth most experienced coach in the comp!

you would never guess would you!

it was only five years ago he took over three number one picks the best full forward in the country and the best player.

since then one finals win to his name.

an elimination final!

     Damn you are a funny guy. So the fact that Ratts took over 5 years ago with 3 #1's all aged 17,18,19 with about 50 games between them and a FF who was dragging the club down should be enough should it. Plus we are 7 games into a season so a tad hard to win a final this year just yet. Plus we were coming from the pits down at the bottom with alot of dead wood that needed to be moved on. If you are going to make an argument about Ratts performance atleast put it in some semblance of a context. You are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel with that post.

bit like knights no?

better off

as will the dockers be after flaky Harvey!

as was saints after grant Thomas. even though they fell short two times they were close.
Thomas had the better list you know?

but couldn't coach was tactically inept but a former saints son!

.you are funny if you think rats is an elite coach!

maybe he could coach a premiership if the drafting was much better!

but it was not so he won't.

time to move on if we don't make the four this season.

so I'm sure if won't be around next year unless we are really weak as a club!

Bomber Thompson took over in 2000 at the Cats and got them to a final in 2005 where they got done.

In 2006 they dropped to 10th and Bomber was almost sacked.

2007 after 7yrs he got a flag.

So I guess in the same time frame Ratts has won 1 more final and was coming from the last when he took over whereas Bomber took over when the Cats finished 11th in 1999.

I'm not interested in bomber Thompson. he had twelve all Australians.
now you are today tonight selling me the stay at home mum making a million dollars from her computer. and you will show me how.

for each of those is a million that didn't.

fairytales by Hans Christian Anderson.

the truth is we are spinning our wheels.

approaching one hundred and ten games as coach for one elimination finals win is his record!

that's a big stint by coaching terms for little result.

the rest is hoping!

hoping he will emulate Thompson.

Thompson did it!

hoping to and doing it is vastly different

.

enough with the finger crossing.

let's see professionalism accountability and less spin from them and the likes of you till they prove something

OK?

There is not doubt in my mind we have the players.
Can Ratten make it happen?
Players don't need a friend.
They need guidance and disipline.
They need a strong leader.
A leader has advisers but ultimately he has the final say.
I hope he is or can become that.
Then that in itself radiates down to his team.

Is always had been.

When realists name others optimists the real argument is should we stick with Rats (and Sticks etc) or not.

I'm actually not sure Synbad was arguing with my post but I could be wrong. Actually I'm not sure what he is on about to be honest. I just put up some facts I found on the net to answer his question and off he went about Bomber Thompson and doing burn outs. :yikes: :yikes:

Ha ha.

Dodges your questions like the Agents in The Matrix and throws in a little history or literature to deflect and numb you into submission.

Glad I have never been in the trenches with some of the posters around here. First shot fired and they'd be "Mag off, pack off, flower off"
