Hope all our players and coaches watched afl360 tonight.

Openly being called soft. As a supporter and member, my blood was boiling. Because it is true and it hurts.

Wish the players felt as strongly about it as most supporters do. Evidently they don't because it is hardly a new criticism.

Grigg is a one sided uncontested softcock......don't get fooled by his cheap possies for the tiges. he'll get found out

But, but, but Rhys26 wants him back to help Juddy. Then he would be the 1st to stab him in the back when he hacked it up again.

Ill say it again, we were exposed as frauds.

Put into context please. In any premiership year, (happy for someone to tell me last time this did not happen) including 95 which keeps getting mentioned, the premiership team demonstrates they can string 5-6 wins in a row.

What has team team?

Until we can put together a run, we will never be premiers. Thats the challenge, ands what fail to see happening. We are a team that responds well the week after, but finals are designed that way!

So who's getting reported against Adelaide for dumb, misplaced aggression as a dumb, misplaced response to getting called soft in the media?

3:1 Waite
4:1 Robinson
...
...
...
8000:1 Gibbs

So Hughesy made another drafting mistake?
top 20 pick and offloaded for nothing cos he would be no help in our side.

We of course have Curnow and Ellard.

Like most posters, I'm extremely frustrated with Monday nights "effort".
We all understand we're not in a position where we'll win all of our games but a consistent effort from all concerned is all I expect.

The biggest frustration of all is the apparent inability of our coaches to come up with a methodology to counter the tactics we're encountering. For the past month, our opposition have been playing a 3/4 game and stifling our midfield spread. Then they use their pace to cut us up going forward. I wrote a post about this on the 28th of April after the Freo win.

Quote:
Rapt with the win but our accuracy has wallpapered over some serious issues for the coaches to address.
For the second consecutive week, we only scored from about 30% of our forward 50 entries while conceding more than 50% at the other end.
It shows we're not dealing with the opposition putting players defensive side of the ball and what's more, we're getting far less value out of our loose player. Yes Gibbs has been very good but winning games of footy is about kicking more goals than the opposition. Let's be realistic. Had Freo not kicked so poorly in front of goal, we would be lamenting another poor result.

I'm not trying to put a downer on the win. Any win in Perth is worth celebrating but the stats over the past 2 weeks tell us that teams have put a plan in place to stifle us and we're not dealing with it. We have some tactical and structural issues to deal with and at the moment, I'm not seeing any methodology in place to attempt to rectify it.

The biggest concern for me was Ratts bemoaning St Kildas ability to score regularly from forward 50 entries. Apparently the coaches were "surprised" by that. They couldnt understand how St Kilda scored at 70% at stages during the game. FMD Ratts, go back to the Freo and Essendon* game and you'll see the same problem at various stages of the game. Using the exact same tactics! Once again we struggled to get value from our forward entries while our opposition scored almost at will.

How can this still be happening a month later and how is $2m worth of coaches box "surprised" by it when hack supporters have been concerned for a month?
Yes I'm happy to be in 4th spot and theres a lot of football to be played but its time for some of our brainstrust to start earning their dollars and right the ship.

BV those coaches were bowled over by a rookie coach and Laidley.Who all they had to do is do what GWS did.. who just did what Freo did... who just did what the Bombers did.
Whats scary is none of those teams have the players capable of doing it the way Adelaide will do this week.

True to form I see. Never let the facts get in the way of a good beatup.

Will you be back on TC with MJ, Rhys, Gerry, Keogh etc if we beat the Crows this week? Or will you go missing until we lose again?

Mate how about some analysis of what went wrong

I might.. i might not.

I doubt we will beat the Crows.
If we do..ill come here.

But you have such a fixation about how i spend my time.

Let you in on a little secret Mr Caz.

Talking Carlton and coming on here allows me to vent.
Talking Carlton is free!!!. Seeing a Psychologist is $150 a session .

I dont need to come into TC when i have nothing to vent about.

I wont stop venting till we win a flag.. and after i have celebrated that flag.. ill vent again till we win the next one.

You on the other hand believe youre the guardian and gatekeeper of Carlton.
somewhere you have it in your head that anything that is questioned.. you will see to it personally along with your little sugar cronies that all questioning of the club is ceased.

My Grigg jibe was on the back of you having a go at someone elses comment on whether Grigg would be useful or not.
When you and your team actuallly used another top 20 pick for him..

You might be able to take it all out on badies out there.... the rest of us would never get away with that.

So again.... when i choose to come in and what i say .. you have no control over...
You and your little sugar cronies put your jackboots away and loosen up!

The house is not made of brick and mortar.. its a house of cards...

Stcks is not the best man available as president and noone else is as good.
Ratten is not the best coach going around.

But we are Carlton!!!..they use this slogan but they dont understand the Carlton that was never built by men like Sticks as President and Ratts as coach.

.... and it flows through the whole footy club.

Right now we should be entering a GOLDEN ERA... but of course it will be only a mirage.

Cos the organisation is not the best most cutting edge .. most innovative.. most creative.

Its just bland and average!!!

Ratten has been pantsed by 2 rookie coaches in 4 weeks and has had his team struggle against a start up side.

Nice!!!

Ill come here to vent and save myself psychiatrist fees and there is not a damn thing you can do about it Mr Gatekeeper of Sugar Castle !!

Haha, have to agree that Gibbs is the softest player on our list, picked that up early in his career!

By the way Synbad, I think most of what you say is fair enough although I am not with you on your stance on Carazzo.

If we lose to Adelaide I will know why you think we lost to Adelaide.
If we beat Adelaide what will be the reasons?

Very disappointing, particularly as the old saint witch across the isle got away with it. F'n aints. They are all witches and fat arsed goons. I hate losing to that slime. I feel dirty.....

Ok, so tonight we got smashed around the clearances. I reckon since collingwood we have not won them cleanly. Murph is definitely oof, and Waite was pathetic after quarter time. Dropped his head. I thought the back line was ok given the onslaught they copped. Gibbs good in the middle but fails to impose himself, and Simmo had a poor night.

They played as well as they have for 18 months.
P
We have definitely lost our mojo. I reckon essenscum smacked it out of us. We are not making it happen, we are waiting for it to happen. recipe for disaster.

Time for some home truths: we are not as good as we think.

It's only May. There's plenty of time to get it right. But we need some urgency and desperation.

spot on, maybe we are getting carried away with the hype and $4.00 for the flag and maybe we are under rating other sides.
Having said that it is only round seven and the side has looked out of form since the Collingwood game,
I could not find a winner on Monday night and I can't remember the last time we had so many blokes down in the one game.

I think wanting to sack this player and that player, the coaching panel, the board, the boot studder and the bloke who checks the tickets is a bit feral and premature, there are blokes who have to have a good hard look at themselves and like the supporters not get ahead of themselves.

Maybe we are in a bit of a form slump, but we have only lost two games (at this stage), the competition is extremely even this year as this weekends results have shown, I don't think we have to panic just yet as we won't be the only side that this happens to this year.

It seems to me like we have to get back to basics and forget all about expectations and start doing the little things for each other that we were doing earlier in the year.

This is all between the ears.

I'd love to see that!
let's do it!

but you would have to think we are coming off a better platform that them!
no reason to lose!
must win at home!

I keep reading we need a strong inside mid, Curnow and Ellard need to be hit men and when Robbo doesn't break heads we're gone.
Well boys grow and understand there are 22 players out there each and every week and each one has to stand up each and every week.
If you can't put your body on the line in each and every contest go and play soccer.
When you squirm a contest it not only reflects on you but also your team mates.
It gives your opposition confidence and a sense of power.
When you go hard take the hit and don't take a backwards step weather you win or lose that contest you instill confidence in your tame mates to do the same.

This is what we need week in week out if you want to hold your head up high.
This is what makes individuals into premieship teams.

We have the ultimate player guiding our charges now we need the coaching staff to harden up themselves and to throw down the challenge to the rest of them.
It's not about game plans or who runs where.
It's about who wants it more.... no matter what the opposition want.

that's so true!

but psychologically we rely on one player!the guy use coach refers to as the champ! so we step back for the champ!

coaches and players lean towards one player thus creating our own version of the tower of Pisa!
