Not going to post my thoughts as yesterdays effort was not even worth talking about...
But Im really hatimg the Negative Nellies who take over this forum after every loss, but disappear under their rocks when we win... Makes me sick!

Our objective at the start of the year was to make top 4 was it not, and thats where we are right now are we not ?

I hate the way we played last night and against the Bummers, but I'd rather these performances now in the 1st half of the season, and then come home with a wet sail and red hot form closer to Finals time.

Hawthorn in 2008, and the Crows in 97/98 showed that in even seasons like this year, all you need is to have good form and a full squad at the right time of year, and you can achieve anything....

Any decent coach would sit up in the box so he can structurally what is happening on the ground.

I know when I sit near the boundary its impossible to see what's going on the other side of the ground. So makes it hard for Ratts to make any changes.

How about moving Garlett down back last nite to help break their flood as he was having minimal impact up forward?

Hopefully Yazz is back soon. I'm sure we haven't been told his true injury.

Finally, the loss of Carazzo is hurting us around the stoppages/clearances.

Would you ask the hard questions Warby?
Yes, you would. :-)

Are we gonna stick it right up 'em on Sunday?

God, I hope so.

I suggested in the drafting threads last year that we should grab Saad from the Bullants; and I recall that Heavs asked ''how could we?''......well....St.Kilda drafted him; and we saw his talents last night.

You suggested we grab him without the need to draft him because he was playing with our reserves. Why not just form four him.

From memory; my words were something like.....''I was disappointed that we didn't pick up Ahmed Saad''.....and your answer (from memory) was ''And how would you have suggested we do that?''

I then posted in the same thread that St.Kilda had drafted him.....he was available to be drafted after all.

I've been thinking this for a while and last night was a good example of what I believe but at the moment we really only have a decent squad of about 24 - 26 players. These days it is handy to have about 30 players. We are at the mercy of injuries and can't afford to have too many players from that squad missing. Not having Yarran, Laidler & Carrazzo in the side last night stood out like the proverbial. Our bottom 6 - 8 players are a weakness and we can be found out when our superstars don't fire. However, if all our key players are there at the pointy end of the season who knows.

Anyway; perhaps our recruiters didn't want Saad for reasons unknown to us; and we do have similar players on our list in the 3 amigos but......he does have talent.

At least we don't look like playing spuds like OKeefe and McLean ever again, but yeah the cupboard is bare.

I'm pretty sure that's why we didn't take him. We have two regular small fwds already and Kerr in the Ressies. So he probably would not have been a priority.

I'm not sold on him TBH. He looked good when the ball was comming in quick and open, but I reckon he'd struggle in a tough encounter.

But will we? The signs aren't great after 2 or 3 years ofit!

What BM was trying to say.. correct me if im wrong BM... is that we used to win wooden spoons that landed us 3 number 1 picks and access to alot of early talent... plus the biggest name in the competition.. and now we dont win wooden spoons anyore.

Nope.

I reckon last night will boost his confidence to play AFL; but then again; he won't be playing against Carlton every week; which would've stirred him up; and why they picked him in the side to play us.

Haven't read the whole thread so excuse me if this has already been raised but...

Are our players (and coach) doing a lot more media than last year?

Maybe it's because I now see it via The Wookie (thank-you Wookie  ) as I don't really watch broadcast tv other than the matches themselves but it seems like every time I see a player on one of those Wookie clips he follows up with a shocker the next round.

Could be clutching at straws but has anyone else noticed this?

For a team that appears to be a little complacent and comfortable with their place in life "aiming for a top 4 finish" maybe we should STFU and let our football do the talking?

Now we have to lift in intensity.
We have become the hunted.

If this doesn't happen fast we will lose all confidence and at very least waste a year.

Now thus is really scary because I was having the same thoughts as you

Both before the Essendon* game and this one the players were out and about all over the press
This week saw Simmo Walker Murph all out on the thursday footy shows with murph also doing an article for the herald and carrazzo a talk fest with crawf

Before the Essendon* game it was Ratts gibbs judd and waite on the tv and i dont get melbourne radio so I can bet it is even worse

They all hit twitter pretty hard this week and Robbo seems to live on it

Get out of the media and close ranks and just let footy do some talking for a while

Yes yes yes......I thought when Fevola became a regular on TFS; it was the beginning of the end; and we hated it.........and of course it all ended in tears as we know.

Let your onfield deeds do the talking I've always thought; and there's been too much CFC ''feel good'' stories and press this season for our liking.
