Ratten has rocks in his head

I have been onto Gibbs' lack of intensity and hardness since last year, maybe even before

I got howled down here for raising it, but now everyone sees it

He is NOT an onballer. Lacks the required level of hardness to succeed in that role

He is a defender, or FF at a pinch

I really see Dangerfield taking on Goodes, Goddard etc and beating them.

In amongst the occasional good game Dangerfield has some shockers.

Gibbs is fine once you accept / and he accepts he is a backman or occasional forward. Its not a crime to be a backman.
It is also not a crime to not meet others expectations providing you are doing whatever you can to be your best.

He is a very handy member of our 22. A little off his game at the moment but we all know he can play.

Dangerfield is a fine player but Crows fans have the some issues with his consistancy and being taken out of games too easy. They go a bit esier on him because he "chose" to be a number 12 pick and didnt "choose" to be number 1 like Gibbs did.

Would you have said this about Stanton last year?

Gibbs isn't softer than Pendlebury. No crime for Gibbs to be an outside midfielder/wingman who isn't an in and under player or grunt. It's harder for these players to get clear if the opposition are forcing stoppages to restrict our game and the run of Judd, Murphy, Simpson and Gibbs. North paid for letting Gibbs off the leash last year.

Still waiting for Marc to play at Murphy level this year.

A lot of reactionary comments in here. It's a long season so while I think he needs to get more out of himself I'm willing to let it play out before I talk about trading him.

This is just dumb.

Replacing Gibbs with Dangerfield would not have made a difference the way we played last night.

We don't need to replace Gibbs, we need to play better. Maybe even get a Dangerfield as well as a Gibbs, wouldn't that be great.

Give me Fraser "the dog" Brown ferocity at the football every game Gibbs.

He just looked disappointed to me.
This guy is Carlton.

At this second in time, I would do it, but lets wait the whole season.

I have had enough of Gibbs squibbing and just strolling around like he is trying to preserve himself to have an injury free 15 year career.

As likely as a Gibbs match winning 30 odd possession game?

In all fairness Gibbsy isn't the first bloke to have a lull in his career. It is largely forgotten now but Kouta was rubbish for the best part of 2 years (coinciding with his fathers passing), and he didn't become a world beater on a consistent basis until 2000.

Point is some guys can take a bit longer to reach elite status than others.

Good post.

The whole team is playing crap. As individuals and as a team. We know these blokes can play they just have to remember how to do it as a team.
Lift the intensity and it will all come flowing back.

That highlight of Gibbs and Lenny Hayes shows Gibbs is not a squid, he just isn't a suicidal madman like Lenny Hayes - and not many footballers are. Lenny was prepared to take a hit to his brain going for that ball, Gibbs was not.

..genuinely surprised at this thread.. ..aside from a bitchin' name, Dangerfield hasn't delivered anything remotely as consistent as the Gibblet's standard.. ..it's not the players themselves, so much as how they're being utilised.. ..remember up until Sando's gone in there and changed how rodney's been 'coached', he was in and out of form, showing only hints and glimpses of what he could achieve..

This thread is a great example of why the internet is bad.
