Play the ball, not the man.

Go to the kitchen if you want a bite.

Play the ball like our army of 190 cms running jumping super athletic freaks drafted???

Look... i know youre disappointed..!!!.. your dreams have been smashed!!!... bashed senseless by Essendon* and StKilda with the hard teams yet to come... but im pointing out your theory is full of holes....
Cos you didnt believe we needed guys that have to be capable of getting their hands on the ball..

In case you missed the point.......

Drafting Midfielders >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Drafting non specialist positioned army of 190 cms running jumping superfreako half back flankers....

We cant get our hands on the ball...

So we have to chase a super duper slow side like StKilda all over the park.

Take out all the bullshit...

football is simple.

Have guys find the ball.. (win the ball ) NOT ONE GUY CALLED JUDD !!!)... and execute....
Simple game.....

The other players are periphery types... (FLANKS is a peripheral area compared to centre)

But its ok... we have Adelaide this week....

oi, you...shouldn' ya be running Synners bar, or scoffing away in Bar Humbug.....

Yeah, thanks Palpatine

We can still do it. We need less 'Hollywood' in the side, but stop picking the scab. No side is perfect, everyone's in new territory this season. Unlike any other ive seen. Get to bed and renew your faith with some zzzzz's

Thanks for the stats Ratt's, very enlightening.

It's like listening to the weather man tell you what happened today.

What we'd like is some accurate forecasts, like you know," we are confident in the game plan" "we are almost playing the footy we want" stuff like that.

God I'm depressed.

Very disappointing. Was as angry as I've been at the footy for some time. I just could not see them beating us provided that we were on our game. Of course, we weren't on our game. They hunted us and we couldn't deal with it.

Agree with previous comments; in a nice, open, free-flowing game we look a million dollars, but as soon as the game becomes congested and we need to really crack in, we seem to struggle. On the midfield, we haven't looked the same since Carrazzo went down against Essendon*.

Too many players are out of form. Duigan, in particular, has not been the same this year and could do with a spell in the VFL. I found it a bit odd earlier in the season that we accorded him so much respect as to rush him back into the team as if he were Judd or Jamison. He was great last year, but the team had started well and he had missed several weeks through injury, so there didn't appear to be any great need to fast-track him into the 22. He just doesn't look the same this season.

Ratten said last week (after the GWS game) that there were players who didn't take their chances ... but he still picked them and they failed once again.

That's because Ratten knows he has no way to back up his words - we basically have nobody else to replace our underachievers. Lucas and Thornton are options, Yarran will return.

After that comes McLean, Collins, Kerr, Watson, McCarthy, McInnes, Heyne, Dale and Bell... It's pretty scary reading. *

* Buckley and Bootsma aren't ready.

so much for our supposed depth........looking very very thin about now - massive game against the Crows and I don't like our chances at all.

Thornton must come in - at least he can take a contested mark.

To me, Milnes` 4 goals said a lot about us. Last week against Haw` he (and Dal Santo) didn`t touch it yet you just knew he would do that to us. It is written.
I`m guessing we will be playing a Final in Adelaide this year .

Agree with this. The 2 biggest holes in the list are obviously a big bodied fwd & a strong bodied mid - we rely far too much on pace & clean ball. When the opposition makes it a scramble where's our lenny Hayes or Jordan Lewis type midfielder. And they're exactly the problems you don't want in September against strong sides.

I couldn't believe how fumbly we were tonight, & we didn't team well at all. Hendo's kick over Robbo's head, 2 defenders going for the same mark & dropping it, etc. Our defence just crapped itself whenever the saints went forward - it was so predictable.

We've been vastly overrated since the Collingwood win, when they had injuries before & during the game. Incredibly, Rohan Connolly had us finishing top of the ladder in the age today :?

Not feeling good at all about Adelaide. Scotty Thompson will have a ball against us if we repeat that sort of rubbish.

And the crowning turd in the waterpipe - who on earth approved the design to mke the already too narrow footbridge to Southern Cross Station even narrower??? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I fear we are in danger of becoming the next Doggies. We have 2 major problems we need to address.

1. Not enough mongrel or toughness. Apart from Robbo, not enough hard nuts in the side. Generally the side is fairly introverted, there is no fear factor there. In the 90s we had strong leaders as well as tough nuts, we don't have that yet.

2. Lack of key forwards. We need to get a Casboult or Mitchell into the side sooner rather than later, its becoming more and more obvious that Waite as the only tall forward makes us too hit and miss, and very dubious when the pressure is right on in games.

We have a fair few players out of form in a big way (Jamo, Gibbs, Duigan, Garlett, Russell) and battlers in Joseph, Ellard (who was good) and Curnow.

Im actually trying to think, who has actually gone forward from last year in our side? Hampson perhaps? Robinson? Hendo?

Plenty of time to get it right, but I think we are seeing that the current make up of the side needs to be tweaked, to include a 2nd forward and be more ruthless. I don't know why we seem complacent so often, its not like we have really achieved anything.

I agree with a lot thats been said here, but mostly the above moreso.

This team has a genuine bona fide all time great of the game leading them, yet so many around
him are either A/ just pure and simple not up to the challenge (espcially mentally) or B/ just foot
soldiers who he nor anyone else can improve.
That clock is ticking and we wont have him for too much longer at this rate.

If hacks like us can see so many flaws being exposed, thats fine, but WHAT is being done about it ?
Why are WE always the reactive side ?

Why does any side that niggles Carlton and makes it hard in all factes of the game, expose us ?
Guarantee you every other coaching panel saw tonights blueprint.
Was very insightful to hear Eade and Thompson speak of how you beat us....so easily !!!!

So how does the CFC react to this now ?
We seem to have had so many lines in the sand......we are running out of beach !!!!!!!
they just really need to have a really, really big cup of cement and throw the kitchen sink
at bloody Adelaide next game. Just treading water if it doesnt happen NOW.
Enough really is enough.

Either that or lower the bar and yes, we are now what the Bulldogs were.
And that aint the Carlton i grew up knowing and loving.

Lots of disappointed fans here, rightfully so.
Maybe Ratts should make this compulsory reading instead of the tipsters poll in the paper
or the fricking Centrebet odds.

Premiership favourites ? Im thinking of Daryl Kerrigan right now !!!!!!!!!!

Same old story...... No Bootsma, No Carlton....hahahha.

Cons:

We're not going to always win, but seem to struggle with being 'favourites' or the opportunity to gain a real ladder advantage over our opposition. Seem to lack the premiership threatening 'mental toughness'.
Yet another game where we've been beaten by a more aggressive side.
We should never have lost to a St Kilda weakened by the loss of Fisher and McEvoy. Other than the Collingwood win (against a very weakened side) and to a lesser extent the Fremantle win (who were missing Sandilands), we haven't really been particularly impressive at all.
Poor goalkicking at Etihad yet again.
A home ground where we struggle to play well.
We played Milne into form again.
Ratten's profound post game analysis that we 'lacked spark'. I hope something a little more informed and constructive is being said to the players.
Only seen a bit of the game so far. Not looking forward to sitting through the rest.

Pros:

The clear frailties of this side have been exposed early in the year. I guess
Ellard.

We dont have enough players that crack in when needed to. Or too many players are woefully out of form or inadequate.

Sleeping on that effort hasn't made it any bloody better.

One of the shakiest defensive efforts we've put in for a while. Still we didn't get smashed on the scoreboard.

Saints had to score over 100 if they were going to beat us, and they Carltoned us with their small forwards running riot.
