They need to be able to spread out the coverage to try and maximise the audience. It makes sense, and I prefer it to Thursday night.

Agree with Jimmae. Given that MNF in the NFL has been hugely successful and led to a boost in TV revenues and even the EPL is now putting blockbuster games on Monday night, it is a fixture that will stay (and may even become more commonplace). As an aside, in the NFL, the biggest and most popular timeslot of the week is Sunday night football, and dare I say you may see that start to creep into the fixture. Sport is now a vehicle that puts eyeballs on TV sets, ipads, etc and has less to do with bums on seats. The bottom line is if you are committed supporter you will go to or watch the game no matter what day of the week or time they play.

Feels weird that we haven't played this weekend and waiting for tomorrows game.
Don't like it in general, but if I was to be in Melb this week I'd be going for sure....my stuff up with the Monday game.

But then again, it's now Sunday and I'm looking forward to giving the Aints a flogging tomorrow night after work.
We let 'em off last year at the G in a night game that didn't count.
I bet I really enjoy our 3rd Monady night win against the Aints.

Got up this morning and saw the team wearing the Sky Blue celebrating a win at Etihad Stadium and another team wearing Red White and black looking a bit upset

thought I had the days wrong

I'm ok with them, but i feel sorry for the families.

By the time they get home it will be 11:00ish. That's too late for kids on a school night.

It's all about the money ... therefore Monday night footy is guaranteed.

No need to feel sorry for my family Ryan. My kids will be in bed by 8:00pm as usual on a Monday
night. We would've gone had it been played at the 'G yesterday though. The annoying thing is,
knowing the AFL, they're probably starting to think of it as being a "traditional clash*", and we all
know how they feel about those.

* And by "traditional clash" I'm mean "profit maximising clash".

Monday night football sucks. Get rid of it. Should never have it again.
