Lucas doesn't seem quite fit enough, I've seen him cramping up in a number of games this season. Not real surprised at him being dropped.

Thornton a bit unlucky but given Bower was given 4 votes last week from one of the coaches (and I doubt it was Sheedy) he was never going to be dropped. I know Lucas kicked a couple of goals last week but just doesn't seem to have showed any more this year than he did in 2010. Has the tools, would be great to see him really step up and make himself undroppable.

Yeah he is starting to look tired. Probably mentally tired more than fitness. Freshen him up and bring him back in a couple of weeks.
Touhy also looks to be tiring too.

Possibly, but I think I'd rather have play as the Sub than in the VFL. Maybe he's having a rest from the VFL too? I guess we'll find out tomorrow...

Lucas didn't have a great game last week, but I didn't think he was our worst either.
Hopefully dropping (resting?) him will keep him hungry...

Lucas has been poor in several games. Hardly an automatic selection.
Thornton must be scratching his head.

When Ratten said after last week's game that he was disappointed that some on the periphery didn't grab their chance, Lucas was the first that came to my mind. He started reasonably well, but faded after quarter time.

It was the perfect opportunity for him to get 20-25 possessions and impact a game over 4 quarters, and he didn't take it. Not surprised (but disappointed he's been dropped.

Thornton and Lucas were terrible last week. I have no doubt both players were in the firing line when Ratts said that some players had an opportunity to cement a spot but didn't.

Not last week.

Nobody could be surprised about the omissions.
I personally thought Ellard might be out, but he had 10 tackles, I can certainly see why the MC would want some game time into him.
Waite in means that we were likely to drop a tall, and while T-bird is unlucky, there is no way you could drop Bower off last week's performance, probably his best game in 2 and a half years.
Lucas struggled after the first quarter last week, and hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire..

Many were terrible last week and for me it was Ellard & Joseph that I thought Ratts was referring to... but they must have laid a tackle or something.

Not sure we can play those two with Curnow coming back.

Thornton had 13 possessions, eight marks and three goals. Sure, it was against GWS but calling his performance terrible is laughable.
