Ah....this Coleman incident....the BOIL incident:

We've come a long way...

I dont think we need a sticky anymore. The sticky was good for pushing for assistance and requesting help - which came in droves. Now we're a mature site and we can advertise articles / crossovers as they happen.

Time to move on?

Just tidying up the 2009 page....the Club never confirmed who the leadership group actually were despite being asked a number of times. Does anyone know and / or care?

Stevens - VC?

** HORRIFIC SELF PROMOTION BUMP **

Avid readers of the Blueseum will note we've tried to collate all Blues who kicked goals with their first kicks at AFL level. Krooze, Garlett, Crisp etc.... the list went on.

There was a mystery however. We knew Tim Rieniets had kicked one with his first kick, but some thought he'd gone the double and kicked 2 from 2. We'd tried to investigate through the CFC, through Parkin, through anyone who may have knew him in our 'sphere of influence' but couldn't lock it down...

SHOOT through to late 2011...

One of the Blueseum writers works in the finance industry and happens to have a lot of money out to Australia's coal generation sector. Anyways, a guy with the same surname was at site that day. Conversation picked up and Tim was a relative (not only that but this guy's wife was Chris Judd's cousin... odd link). Contact details were exchanged and an offer to get Tim to check these facts was made....

NOTHING HAPPENED

Then in May 2012 who would call that Blueseum writer but Tim. "Hi its Tim Rieniets here." Good start. We got talking about his bio and he wasn't too happy about how we'd finished his career - he said that he actually partially tore his ACL in 1991 but fought back through the next pre-season, only to not get selected again and moving on to Coburg.

So what was the answer?

"I cant remember actually. Definitely one with my first kick - a LF snap in the pocket - but not sure about the second..."

Mystery not solved but still a great story around the Blueseum. Tim's bio has been updated:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... m+Rieniets

For this and more factfinding missions we've set up Forums now - not to compete with footy discussion but for those with footy history on their mind. Welcome any input you have:

I am only going on my memory of that game but I am pretty sure he kicked 2 goals with his first two kicks - but if Tim himself can't remember who am I to argue.

I reckon Jon (Hopper) McCormick got 2 with his first 2 kicks as well - in Round 1, 2003 against Sydney.

Good Work Warbs - pretty sure you can add Jon McCormick to the first 2 kicks goals list.

Only reason I am pretty sure on it as we made a special trip up to Sydney to see the game - and the group I was with all remarked on it when he had kicked his second goal, its not a game I want to particularly watch again because after all the high expectations that Pagan gave us during the pre-season it was very very depressing.

Yeah.....weren't the Carlton faithful half wanting Terry Wallace instead of Pagan at the time?

And then; a few years later; we very nearly got sucked into the ''Get Voss'' instead of Ratts brigade.

We were so lucky to be there when we were nearly unbeatable; and to be then followed by years of horror and disbelief..........and embarrassment.....was almost too much to take.

Ah.....T.Ennis 1896.....the AFL/VFL only have records from 1897 onwards....explains that.

BTW....great effort by Harcourt Dowsley; bearing in mind he played only 3 games for 7 goals in 1941.

Workers on the Blueseum continue to update the site over the off-season, and in particular, support the Club on their mission to find images of all Carlton players... EVER.

Some of us have been working back through old annual reports and putting faces to names, to great success.

Some of us are in libraries pulling out old newspapers & facts.

Some of us are a bit lazier but still find some unique history. Take the below example for Billy Monagle....:

* Blueseum writer / office worker sitting in a meeting in Melbourne CBD
* A guy named Hugh Monagle (not his real first name) dials in
* Blueseum writer says 'I know that name' and checks the Blueseum
* Finds Billy's page & calls Hugh to ask 'are you related'... 'Yes that is my Great great grandad'
* Please get me a photo

6 months later:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... ly+Monagle

We have it!

As Mols knows; I'm forever hopeful of getting some stuff from 1938-1945-1947 Triple Premiership player Ken Baxter's daughter who is still too sentimental about his footy stuff still.....I'll try again next year.

Just a Blueseum footnote of note... to us.... although the Techys say it's probably not a big deal, today the Blueseum Home Page will have it's 1 millionth hit (let alone the 95 other pages with 10,000 and 5000 or so other pages).
