Hated?

Sheedy is O.K. as for whatever we may think of him personally, his heart is in the right place where the game is concerned.
If nothing else I had a great time at the MCG waving my jacket when Essendon* beat WC in the 90s.

So he's not perfect?

No, I think he'll be remembered favourably, when time closes upon his career.
A strange sort of character but we've had much worse through the ranks.

Remembered favourably by whom? :sly:
Reckon he would be loathed by Carlton

Sheedy is a snake oil saleman of the highest order as well as a complete knob. I hope we smash his Franksteinian creation by at least 10 goals. And watching Setanta in that awful jumper will take a little getting used to.

All Carltonians should be anti Sheedy.
He hates Carlton with a passion. More than Collingwood.

He's our enemy, so flog them on the scoreboard I say. We've got the team to do it.

Backline looks strong and fast. They're the Scrooges of the AFL.

I will miss Warnock, but glad to see Kreuzer is getting another game under his belt.
Hampson should have a field day if we kill em in the midfield.
Should be able to cover Judd in the midfield with Scotland and Robinson in there with Murph and Simpson (good luck big little fella), and I hopr Gibbs has a dip there too, whilst Curnow, Ellard will wax the grunt work, and Armfield and maybe Lucas and Joseph give us leg speed on the outside. Midfield is still very strong without Judd and Carrazzo. A good and deep unit.

Waite too can be covered against the GWS with Thornton fitting into the lead up marking role. Hammer and Kreuzer will be a great target at FF. Beware Sheedy when to ball hits the deck...they're like seagulls with the speed of the road runner. Sheedy will be road kill.

We are missing a lot of players from our top 22, but thankfully we aren't facing the toughest task:
Those missing from our best 22 imo are Judd Waite Carrazzo Yarran, Laidler and Warnock. Amazing group to come in.

I'm expecting a thumping in the vicinity of around 100 pts. Serious.

This is GWS first game in Melbourne, ever. They have many missing.
Setanta and a few others haven't played much, so they'll be rusty, old, mainly too young and inexperienced on a very fast track against bigger bodies. No Chad to smash either.

If we kick straight we could possibly win 26.10.166 vs 9.6.66.

6 Walker......he will get close imo
5 Hampson......he will get close imo too
5 Betts.......he will get close imo
3 Garlett
2 Kreuzer
2 Gibbs
2 Murphy
1 Robinson...maybe a few more single goal kickers.

I may be thinking too far ahead, but I'm sure the players have their heads screwed on.
It has been a sombre week for the boys. A reality check. This aint no party. This is about our pride and power with Sam Rowe in the back of their minds.

4 pts and %%%. That's what I want.

I agree with the general gist but take Gibbs out of the backline and slot Bower in and we ain't looking so quick and agile back there, and one thing GWS probably do have is speed.

Also not sure it will be all one way in the ruck, Brogan will hold his own for at least part of the game.

Let's hope that if we kick 10 goals in the 1st quarter we don't ease through the rest of the game.

They'll kick less than 50 pts, the press will strangle them. How much we win by depends on us and us alone.

Blues by 116.

Kevin Sheedy taught me to handball.

If he was ours we'd love him.

He's not so he's a cauliflower.

Come on who wasn't a 7 year old around the late 60s early 70s and experiencing 2 losing Grand Finals to these bunch of turds - in the schoolyard it was always Kevin Shitty, Kevin Fartlett, Royce Fart, Neil Bum.

Watching the dogs tonight compared with last week against GWS i am convinced teams are loading up on training leading into the GWS and GC games. The dons were the same. Flat against GC then running beautifully the week after. Smart move really. Get the 4pts while preparing for the month that follows.

With this in mind i am tipping a flat carlton to get over the GWS by 7 or 8 goals then a fast running carlton to smash the saints the following week.

The blues will win this easy.

But it is naive to not respect Sheedy as an ornament of the game.

I hate Essendon* but I have only respected Sheedy.

Champions earn their status.

This makes sense.
We should win by 20 goals yet may just get away with an ordinary 6-8 goal win.

Frankly I would be happy with a comfortable 6 gl win, the 4pts, no injuries and having the likes of Duigs, Jamo, Walks, Bower and Jeffy run into some solid form before the Saints. I'd love to see Simmo, Gibbo and Murph sitting on the bench in the last quarter with their feet up.

I suspect some posters are just setting themselves up to give the Blues a smack if a win isn't 100pts plus. It will be hard to not mentally relax against the GWS so I'm not expecting a smashing.

Get the win and move on I say.

Regards Cazzesman
