No... no it would not be funny at all.

Well, it would, it's just that other, more negative, emotions would override it.

We had many senior players out there last week.
How exactly are we supposed to know what may happen, and to whom?

Talk is that Judd is a definite out with Scotland not far behind him.
Don't be surprised for an unexpected in, this week also.

Quote:
GREATER Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy believes Carlton will rest players against the Giants at Etihad Stadium on Sunday "at their own risk".

The third-placed Blues have hinted at leaving several first-choice players out of the clash with the competition’s bottom side, but the ever-combative Sheedy warned Carlton to be wary of the improving Giants.

"They won't want to think they're going to get percentage at the rate they feel they might," Sheedy said after training at Blacktown.

"We're bringing our losing margin down (each week). We played three pretty good quarters last week (against the Western Bulldogs) and won one of them.

"They make decisions at their risk.

"It's not as if I don't like coaching against Carlton. There hasn't been a lot of love there."

THE CHAD is still out!!!!!

Quote:
While Carlton ponders which players to leave out, the Giants will welcome back ruckman Dean Brogan, while Setanta O'hAilpin is a strong chance to make his GWS debut against his old side.

Chad Cornes has suffered a setback with what is believed to be a calf problem and won't play, while Israel Folau also missed training on Wednesday with a virus and in some doubt.

In light of Sheedy's comments I hope we win by 10000.

Stop making sense. The match committee should have known better and foresaw it.

In a roundabout way, that's partly true Rhino.
It will be a good day when we have the science to be able to gauge which players are more likely to get the best of themselves on any particular day.

Anyway, that's for another discussion.

Not satisfied.

Kouta did his knee when Jason Johnson fell across it....coached by Kevin Sheedy. The very same Kevin Sheedy coaching GWS this week?

I'm surprised we haven't attempted some form of foray into the future to confirm nothing would happen. Like on Sliders.

Knowing Sheedy this week's football 'lesson' for his GWS youngsters will be in applying the knuckle.
I have nothing against his players, but a smashing is all Sheedy deserves.

I would be extremely wary of resting players. It is not a good feeling to play in a team that doesn't defeat a side that has never before won a game.

I remember playing for St Marys in Darwin in the 1970's against North Darwin Magpies (who had been in the NTFL for two years without winning a game). The Magpies played so well that they should have won but ended up with a draw. Saints players were devastated and we still remember it.

It is not a record that players in the favoured side are happy to be part of. The Magpies were aided by the inclusion of Rod Galt and Kenny Hunter may have also been in that side.

How would the current Blues players (and supporters) deal with a loss to a side coached by K Sheedy who had never before won and AFL game?

You want to drop two guys who played well, so that we can make 5 changes for the second week in a row?
Glad you're not a part of the MC.

Who they rest will be determined.
But players need to be rested particularly the older ones
Judd and Scotland for starters.
It won the cats the flag resting players .
Games are getting more intense as the seasons roll on.
Rest your oldies during another game late in the season.
Rest your Murphys and Gibbs types sometime during the year besides the bye.
We will reap the benefits when it flower counts. In September

And Kerr must play.
He has been on the list for 3 years.
Has awesome skills
Playing him in a higher standard of footy might just bring the best out of him. In the past the MC hasn taken enough risks like this. Perfect time to see him play.
McCarthy is the other one I would play. Put him on a 18 yearold shouldnt be too hard in this game. Give him some senior experience. I reckon this kid goes ok.

As for the old garden gnome
He is an old cauliflower whose used by date is well and truly up as is his overweight self absorbed asshole assistant Choco Williams. Having these 2 coaching fossils does no good for these young men from the GWS. Their mascot would make a better coach.

Love the bit about Sheedy but you are way to kind referring to him as a Garden Gnome.

I wish the club hadnt come out and said publicly that they would rest players. No other club has done this when coming up against the new clubs.
Pre season Ratten has said that the club will look at what Geelong did last year, seems we are always copying other clubs. Having said this is what we will do too then we have to rest players against good clubs too, just as Geelong did. We know that this is unlikely to happen.
If this backfires we could come out with egg all over our faces.
Rest Judd if he really needs it but play as close to full strength.

All this talk about resting players has me thinking about the fans themselves...

How many Blues faithful will be "rested" on Sunday?

Will we get at least 30k to a presumeable walkover, early Sunday game?

Was Ratts a part of the team that lost to the Brisbane Bears at Princes Park that day?

I hope so.

If we cant win this one with a few senior guys out we dont belong
Be upfront. It makes practical sense.
I watched the gold Coast verses Essendon* game a few weeks back. Both teams were spent come the last quarter. A season is 26 weeks if you go to the business end. A marathon is 26 miles and a bit more.

Best to be up front.
And dont worry about what that old prick Sheedy says.
He is the king of spin who bluffed his way through the last 5 years at Essendon*. His used by date was a decade ago.
To me what the club is obviously going to do is common sense. Not arrogance.
If we dont win because of it we dont have the depth to be there when it really matters
