Garlett's goal at the start of the 3rd qtr was bloody superb.

Interesting how our win is being considered as not too spectacular on a public scale. But I had a thought, if Essendon* went over there and won against the Lyon megaflood without Dempsey (Yarran), Hocking (Carrots), Pears (Laidler), Hooker (Bower) and Longergan (McLean), would they be praised for their courage right now?

(rhetorical question of course)

Im glad it's not being considered too spectacular because it wasn't. And I'm happy for Essendon* to be praised for their courage because they're not as good as us.

We shouldn't want to be considered in the same bracket as Essendon*. We are better than them and we should have much higher expectations, both internally and externally.

But you are right, the media would be all over if it was the bombers that held on for a win over there

I agree to an extent. I understand the beating freo in Perth will be hard, but we did fall away I'm surprised the media hasn't gone the opposite way!!! Everyone seems content to say we are back on track, don't get me wrong very happy to get the win but I don't think I'd call it a really good win.

Sadly some people seriously wanted to recruit Jack to Carlton. I wasn't one of them. Thank God that sanity prevailed !

Guilty your honour but I had a difficult childhood and would hope for a suspended sentence at worst.

The only useful thing recruiting Jack Anthony would have achieved would be that Matthew Watson would no longer have the biggest head at the football club.

What was apparent was the massive benefits of Ross Lyon football.
1) You are always back on the train early.
2) 20 mins = 20 mins
3) You dont need to wait until 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 time for a break in play to get a pie
4) Easier transition to watching NFL from September
5) Negligible commentary breaks on replays.
