If anyone has the fitness base to come back straight in, it'd be Walker. I trust the MC on that one.

Could easily see up to six changes here. The MC didn't trust McLean at Subi last year both in the Freo game and the elim final. The first game, he had far better form/game time at senior level in his favour.

Lack of Warnock mention makes me think you can write him off as an inclusion.

Get on whoever is playing the Northern Blues this week..

Maybe making Walker sub would be a good idea.
Assuming Yazz is OK my changes would be:

Carazzo (inj) => Armfield
McLean => Ellard
Laidler (inj) => Russell
Curnow => Walker (sub)

I prefer bringing in Russell to Thornton so we have the extra run - remember we already have three defenders in Jamo, Hendo and Bower whilst Thornton is unlikely to cause Freo any headaches up forward IMO.

Laidler > Thornton
Carrazzo > Walker
Yarran > Armfield
McLean > Joseph

Curnow > Ellard if necessary

Surely Ellard is in for McLean or is this a Patersons Stadium factor?

We looked slow, we lack someone who can do a job on Ballantyne, Hill and Fyfe if he plays.

What Ellard brings to the table, we already have the edge over Freo in contested footy and small goal kicking options.

Would like to see Robbo get the job on Hill, keep him accountable, niggle him all day. Send AJ to Ballantyne. Gives us the option re Fyfe of either head to head against one of our guns, or we send Army to him. If he doesn't play, Army takes Yarran's role.

If Pav was in better form, I reckon Rusty would be the first picked here.

It's time for Russell to step up. 2 years ago against Freo he played his break out game, give him another opportunity against the same team on the same ground.

Maclean will play - forced changes only

Yarren - Laidler- Curnow- Carrots - out
Walker - Armfield - Ellard - Thornton- In

If you travel interstate making changes to 1/4 of the side you are asking for trouble

Since the double hip/groin op and the move of Yaz to defence he hasn't shown much. Now with Yaz out he has a chance to play in his old position and find some of the old zip that made him a good player in 2010.

Not sure what his touch is like though or if he has the required pace but if its all up to scratch now is his time.

If freo are going to flood and then hit us on the counter then we are best putting together a fast backline that can retreat fast if they get through our press.

I think Gibbs should fill Yarrans role

Tuohy Jamo Bower
Gibbs Hendo Duigan

Bit hard for us punters to know who to bring in on form other than Ellard as there has been little info from the Northern Blues game last week. No mention of Thornton or Russell in dispatches from that game. Will be interesting to see what they decide to do.

Then Russ takes GIbbs role . I prefer it the other way around. Yaz has been a bit out of touch apart from some great work against the tigers his distribution hasnt been that great and his dash hasn't been that piercing.

So Russ takes Yaz' role and Gibbs stays behind the ball as the +1 (and any of the other hundred things he gets asked to do during games).

That backline looks fine to me and it has all year but Duigan and Jamo are not anywhere near their best and that might be telling.

Please PB, just don't kick blindly around a corner this week and you'll be fine.
