Would be lovely to go two games ahead of them, rather than be level pegging.*

This is our second big test of the season so far.

A Freo side who is now coached by a great tactical coach, and coach who is instilling a both ways mentality into the playing group.

They have Mundy and Barlow back, Mzunga is back and possibly Morabitto this week also.

Will be a very tough slog IMO. The way the ladder is playing out, the Eagles will be top and Freo a real chance of top 4 if they knock us off, having beaten Geelong and St Kilda already, and plenty of easy points to come. We need to win to keep some distance even if it's early in the season, the last thing we won't us another Perth trip in week 1/2 or 3 of the finals series.

St Kilda are not a yard stick for the league at present, and Geelong are patchy and still working into the season. We're well and truly capable of beating Freo, and this should not be a danger game.

Freo midfield is not in the same league. Their forward line is very very hit and miss and their backs are just ok.

Doesn't mean we'll win but we should.

Does anyone want a ticket for the Freo V Carlton game? Good news is I have one available. Bad news is you have to sit with us. PM me if you want the ticket.

Bit early to call that imo. They look good, but they have played Melbourne, Gws, and bulldogs, most likely all bottom 5-6 sides. We'll get a much better idea of where they're at after tonight. The loss of le cras, embley, and Nicoski will hurt them a lot more against the top sides

Could be four outs - Carrots, Curnow, Yaz, Laidler.

Thornton, Ellard, Armfield all back?

Joseph? Need a tagger.

We got handed a lesson today by Essendon*. Some of the earlier comments in this thread show how far we all got ahead of ourselves.

It will be a great test of our grit and determination next week. Mightn't be a bad idea to head to Perth a day earlier and get out of the bubble, I reckon.

Let's see how far Ratten has come as a coach and us as a supposedly flag fancy?

A tough game just got a whole lot tougher.

At least we finished off today's game well. You know how they say they way you finish one game is often how you start the next ...

This will be a great test for the team. We now have a few injuries, which means our depth will be tested. If we are a contender, then we at least need to give a good account of ourselves. It's a long season so even if we lose, I won't be "slashing my wrists". If we win the clearances then we should win. It's as simple as that. What I am still concerned about is a lack of a plan B. When things go our away, we can look unbeatable. However, I am still not confident that we can adjust when the other team has a tactical advantage over us. Ross Lyon is a good coach, so expect some heat on the coaching staff to at least match him.
