Will I be seeing any of you in the captains club room? Hassett room at the G I think

What exactly are the benefits to this room? Do they have food, drinks etc?
First time CC member and not sure what to expect
Cheers

I will be there diesel
The best thing about the Hassett room is the bar. There are a lot of people serving for a relatively low number of patrons, so you don't have to line up for an hour like in the GA areas. They also serve heavy beer!
They have better, healthier food, and you have a great view of the game from the room.
But I think the best thing is just being in a room full of Carlton nuts!

Are you a reserved seat member or GA?

Captains Club GA! but if I have a clear view of the game from the hassett room I might just drink heavy's and stay in there

Gary Lyon what a muppet... on TFS he tips Carlton. In The Age he tips Collingwood.

I swear I will get physical very early if I have to. I will not put up with what they did to me and mine last year. I will also be driving up and parking the Charger in the car park and will use it to full effect if they try anything after the game by deliberately blocking us in or cutting me off. Any attempt to grab my scarf, beanie or jumper will be met with full brute force. My advice to the security is to keep us separated because these half wit gorillas from Carlton cannot behave. If Elliott wants to go on with it he can see me outside Gate 1 anytime. Please stand up and support your fellow fans against this vermin at the game. I will not stand for any of their crap this year. This is a Hiss Call To Arms.

Yet I bet if the Pies get up, this flog will be one of the first to open a can of verbal diorrhea on anyone in Carlton attire.

Some supporters are just dumb shits no matter which team they support.

I reckon they would go with jamo as the swing man before henda at this stage.

There is no logical reason for that, assuming all is well with both players. If Hendo cannot cope with playing forward, we don't have a star in the making, we have a head case.

You have to leave Jammo at FB, but SOS did some special things in the forward line and as we all know he was more than an AA FB.
Lake, Merrett and even Boch are having a crack at it at the moment so we shouldn't discard anything.

I was waiting for the SOS example. Jamison is a career defender because he has the attributes to match the best FFs, but not the skill set to execute goal kicking like them. SOS was a once in a generation player we were so lucky to have, and I'm not sure there were many (if any) games he started forward once he was settled down back.

Merrett started his career up forward, Bock is a career swingman and can play in any of the key posts, while Lake has a horrid run of form. Bower was used up forward more last year than Jamison. It was all about protecting Hendo, who regressed back to his days at Brisbane, and it was disgusting to watch at times from a development perspective.

Jimmae you’re obsessed in putting Hendo in the forward line.
You simply put a different spin on different players when it comes to your argument.
Merrett was originally a forward.
Lake had a horror run.
Boch is a swing man.
SOS is a once in a generation man.
They have all served their club in various possies when needed and valued, and have done this because of various circumstances associated with the vulnerability of their club at that particular time.
Just like Waite from back to mid to forward.
Walker from back to mid to forward.
Gibbs From back to mid to forward.
Shit even back when I was a kid Jezza and Walls played different possies when they started and finished their careers and in between.
How can you say his progress has regressed, he has played some excellent games against the best forwards when he was asked to and I think he has grown immensely in that time.
Hendo is not a basket case, just like other KPP’s they are simply learning their trade in an all round manner to build strength, knowledge, confidence.
We will soon find out how far Hendo has come as a player and were his best position is served best for the team.
I don’t care wether Hendo goes forward or stays back as long as he serving the team as well as possible. I’m sure he will at some stage go forward again and slot beautifully in the forward line.

He's not the only one.

We'll really want either McCarthy or Watson to step up next year and assume the mantle at CHB.
We can't expect Waite to make the most of CHF forever and let's not start throwing up names that are not agile or as quick of mind as Henderson, to make good.

He'll be back, I think.

I'm sure Hendo will end up at CHF, but it won't be until Watson or McCarthy really stand up to take CHB
i.e. it certainly won't be in 2012, and probably not in 2013

Dawes. 193 cm 105 kg. Power fwd who also rucks when needed. Uses body strength on the contest not that quick. Kick and mark player.
Walker 190cm 89 kg. Genuine midsize forward with pace and a big leap. Crumber. Can play midfield as a run and carry player.
Chalk and Cheese.

Dawes is a tall forward. Hence Collingwood is going in with two rucks and two tall forwards.
Hawthorn: Two rucks and two tall forwards. McAuley and Hale and Franklin and Roughead. Hale rests at FF and Roughy is permanent FP
Richmond: Rucks: Maric, Vickery, Tall forwards, Miller & Reiwoldt.
WCE: Rucks: Natanui, Cox, Tall forwards, Kennedy, Lynch.
Cats: Rucks: West, Orrenson, Tall Forwards, Pods, Hawkins.

We could use Warnock and Kreuzer rucking and Hampson and Waite as tall forwards in the same manner. Collingwood's experiment with using one ruck and Brown is dead and buried. They have to go with the trend (as they have this week) or die wondering. We should do the same as soon as Warnock is available.

Get the idea of Hampson being a ruckman out of your mind for this exercise. Just consider him as a tall forward, which is my argument here and on the Talking Hampson thread. I am NOT suggesting we play three rucks so PLEASE stop saying I want to play three ruckmen. We can and should beat Collingwood tonight because we have better recent form and our tails are up. That doesn't mean we can't try two rucks and two tall forwards if they lose and try it. Nor does it mean that because we win tonight that we don't need to be at the forefront of the changes that are coming to the game as surely as night follows day. Tonight, Hampson and Kreuzer will share the ruck duties because they have to. They provide us with height up front. They are both mobile. Thornton has been dropped for team balance. he is the same height at Bower but not as mobile. Horses for courses. He may play again when a player of his style is needed against a specific opposition. I agree with Russell's omission. He just hasn't been up to it so far but he isn't far off.

Should be a great game and great atmosphere. I'd love to be there. Please show Eddie's face when the game is lost. It's always a highlight of Carlton v Collingwood.

I disagree about walker and dawes. They play the same role for their team (except this year when Dawes has taken leigh browns role of forward who plays second ruck. he has been poor at this).
They both play second forward only walker is better. Compare the two's stats for contested marks, amount of times they are first targets, the amount of times they are outmarked and almost most important the amount of times the ball is swept away when they are targeted. Walker wins hands down and can also help out with the rotations through the midfield late in quarters which gives us the ability to hold our press intensity for longer and see out games.

The Collingwood line up you suggest proves your point is no different to the one they have used for the past few years structure wise with Wood replacing leigh Brown. I dont see how you could try and be smug about that proving your point because it doesnt. Throwing names of blokes who have played ruck once or twice like dawes and roughead in as ruckman to prove your point is also as silly as someone calling Thornton a ruck.

I do agree with you that all our three ruck talls can play in the one team but one will have to replace either Waite or Walker as a forward in my opinion. I cant see adding an extra super tall at the expense of a running player helping our team at all. It may work and i will be wrong. I am sure i will live but my main problem is with your suggestions that collingwood are doing it already and so are hawthorn which is not the case.

We will have to disagree.
I only make one point.
How can my saying Roughead is a permanent FP and Dawes is a tall forward be misconstued as saying they are ruckman. To me it smacks of your not reading my post before you framed your rebuttal.

Expect Jolly to spend quite a bit of time up forward tonight. They're not going to use a bench position purely to rotate their rucks so I'd expect Jamo will spend a bit of time defending Jolly deep forward.

What an idiot.
I will be looking out for a Charger in the car park now.

I wonder how hard it would be to write "ColLinGwooDd SuX" with my keys...

Or maybe just leave an I Am Carlton membership pamphlet under his wiper

Expect to see them chasing quite a bit of tail out of our back line then.

Big changes in both sides since they last played each other

Blues - outs- Walker- Warnock- Thornton-Ellard-Watson-Twomey-Joseph
Blues -ins- Carrazzo- Lucas- Armfield- Hampson- Touhy- Jamison- Waite

Pies - outs- Johnson- Krakour-Davis-Macarthy-Brown- Rounds- Tarrant
Pies - ins - Beams - Sinclair- Dawes- Goldsack- Shaw-Clarke- Woods

Each team has had 1/3rd its side change since the last time they met

Whose outs and ins are better is the question

BTW, if we don't isolate Keefe at FB tonight, we're not giving ourselves every opportunity.

I think we are marginally stronger this time, and they are marginally weaker, which overall means we should be about even.

Just depends whether their In's can step up and perform, and whether we can bring the intensity required to win.

Daisy worries me
