Agreed. He's not exactly flashy or brilliant, but super reliable and hard at it. Just what we needed in defence.

To win by 15 goals interstate against a team brimming with confidence after last week will gain us a lot of respect.
the hype leading into next weeks game against the Filth is going to be MASSIVE!!!!
Not getting too carried away just yet with our start to the year though, as at the end of the day, the way we perform against the better teams will truly show us if we re going to be a true force this year or not. The next three weeks against the Filth, the Scum and the Dorkers (in Perth) will be a massive test for us, and we ll have a more accurate picture of exactly where we re at as a team following that....

Yep, should be three cracking games coming up.

Next to our, season defining NAB Cup game, against Brisbane a few weeks ago.
Remember?

Haha, funnily enough I'd forgotten about that.

He's a good kick on his left foot. But it's interesting how he now seems to prefer to kick on his left. (He only kicks on his right when he has to.) I don't know if this is related to his quad injuries or not.

The Murphy tap to Judd was simply porn. It most likely won't be even thought about for GOTW, but definitely should in terms of a team goal, and also the effort Smurph went to to keep the ball in when most would have let it run OB, and the vision he had to flick it into Juddy's path for the pick up and goal.

Moist!

The womenfolk aren't going to like the sound of that.

Strange phrasework indeed,
but no disputing the sublime work in that goal.

I reckon Murph will be pissed that Judd stole the ball from him.

It was a great passage of play. :smoking:

Well he has us finishing 9th so he will find a way for someone else to deliver "the killer diller".

I enjoyed Garlett in the middle, created a couple of goals with his pace and field kicking.

You would think next Friday night will be a sell out 90K plus

Interesting in Ratts press conference when asked if Eddie's has won mark of the year, he replied something like "we thought Andrew Walker should of won mark of the year last year so who knows, lets leave it at that"

Only thing I can fault is Lucas at the centre bounces, at the moment, his first touch just isn't clean enough. Was good game time for him to improve on it when Brisbane gave up not long after half time. Think he's going to be a very good outside finisher, but whether he has the scope to extend his game inside I have my doubts.

Feel slightly vindicated on comments re: Curnow's tank. Looked gone 10 minutes into the third quarter.

Waite stepped up and showed a maturity that I didn't think existed within him. Judd a game that I haven't seen from him for many a year. Bower fantastic...he couldn't be dropped after that, surely.

Got on Blues at -48.5 at $4....in hindsight, nowhere near risky enough.

My favourite moment is in the 2nd quarter where two Brissie players are going for the ball and Robbo dives in between them and paddles it back to Juddy who takes off.

Couldn't agree more. No stat for that, no fantasy points either but it was pure brilliance from Robbo. Made the Brissy boys look lazy and uninterested.

According to BF, we only won by 90+ points because of the 5-day break and the umpires.

What was with the deadset coathanger on Armfield after he had disposed of the ball? Didn't even get a free ... and I think they got a goal out of the turnover.

Feel a little ambivalent on our poor first quarter - whilst I wish we didn't let teams get such easy goals, I guess it's a good sign that we can adjust, keep our composure, and then kick away. Same against Richmond last week.

Those early goals - I reckon about three quarters of them were a direct result of us being too cute with the ball and giving it away - things like handballing it to a player running past who has an opposition player on his arse and one right in frojnt of him.

Problem is our players tend to flood forward when we are attacking, leaving wide open space for the opposition to play the ball into their forward 50.

Curnow has a massive tank. Some of the running he was doing last night was awesome. He is getting to loads of contests. Would love to see that stat. He did look out of puff at one stage but he had just sprinted to 3 contests and then spread across to receive release pass. His kick was that of a spent man.

He is in the team to get to as many contests as possible and to contest in tight in the bubble to not allow it out unless on our terms. I have been impressed this year.

Yeah he's a real workhorse with his gut running and he's providing some real toughness in contested situations with Robbo which shouldn't be underestimated.
He floated a beautifully weighted pass to the advantage of one of our runners (?) at one stage - I think he's a definite keeper.

Isn't it funny how both games start with how good the opposition is then after the game seems buried it becomes about the Judd transfer and the three #1 picks.
I can listen to that all year.

Take a look at the boys singing the song after the game and tell me if you think Curnow knows the words to the song.
