The most pathetic thing is that it took nearly 10 minutes for security to come and diffuse the situation, and police didnt come until half an hour after security escorted the thugs out.

They were a group of around fifteen 16-25 yo thugs, I wont describe their appearance as I might get labelled a racist in this PC forum but Im sure most of you would be able to read between the lines.

What's the point in putting this sentence in?

I could take you to all different areas with different demographics and you will see the same things....

Disgraceful.

Just shows every team out there in the world has low life supporters.

One thing l will say, which will be debatable, is that even though this is 100% against morals and values of society, MCG/Etihad/AFL security have been pushing the supporters to toe the line and not swear at the footy for kids being around. At Etihad, it always puts the message up on the screen that if you have someone swearing, sms this number with your location for security to evict that person. I seriously don't agree with this, as its a mans sport, sometimes you can't help but lay off a swear word at the umpire on a ridiculous decision. But, it is common sense to try and with strain your self from saying swear words repeatedly with kids around

But, Back in the day when l used to go to the footy as a young kid, you would never of even thought of asking people to stop swearing at the footy. It was like a war at a carlton v pies game for example. You wouldn't think you had a right to tell someone not to swear in the 80s, 90s. You would expect to take a punch back then or some verbal abuse back. But now watching footy is becoming sanitised, people believe they can speak up and have rights to control some bodys verbal language at the footy. They should, but when you do it against the wrong group of people, then stuff like this happens.

It is disgusting, l can see AFL removing beer from the grounds and we have sober supporters. Would fix majority of these issues, but that would just be ridiculous.

Really?......

Do they behave like martin briant, or that guy who threw his daughter of the WG bridge? Do they not know where to draw the line?

A Man's sport in terms of participation, perhaps, but AFL is a very family, and female friendly sport in terms of watching and the appeal. The day you start turning it into a "man's sport" to watch is the day you start killing it off, as mothers will start dissuading their sons from playing at junior levels.

Ruby League suffers from being a "man's sport" to watch. I would hate to see the day when AFL stopped being a sport families can happily go to watch together for a good afternoon or evening out.

I have no problem with dry areas of grounds, so kids especially aren't exposed to moronic behaviour by those fools who don't know when to stop drinking and don't know how to moderate their behaviour, or even worse, know when they should stop it, but choose not to.

but a WASP bogan. I am most definitely white. And Anglo Saxon. Certainly not a protestant (nor a catholic).

But I fear I may be a bogan.

I've been going to the footy for only 30 years but I definitely saw more punch ups in the 90s than I do today. The biggest was at Waverley Park when the bloody Carlton and Collingwood cheers squads were seated next to each other! Genius that was! Needless to say a few more teeth went missing by the end of the game.

Since I've been in AFL Members (and i dont know if it is indicative of that area of the ground) I see far less antagonism... there's a lot more families around.

But there are tools at every event, be it sporting or otherwise. It's not based on race... but "pack mentality" is in full force and that's where society is falling down. By themselves these guys are harmless... but they get together and all of a sudden that gives them a license to act like they do? It's a disgrace.

It's not just AFL (and AFL would be a minority and I hope it is NOT creeping in)

The Melbourne Victory "official cheer squad" is one of the worst, most feral supporter groups I've witnessed. They are an abomination on humanity when those cretins get together.

Also at the NRL I had the (mis)pleasure of sitting behind the Canterbury Bulldogs travelling cheer squad... now this one was a large certain ethnicity, rough as guts... and they had to have permanent police presence nearby after half time they were getting out of control and targetting families nearby..

It's ugly... but it seems to occur majorly in packs...

I agree with name and shame, but go further and name and ban... forever! It's disgusting.

People just don't know how to STFU and walk away... it's only sport for crying out loud.

Its just a reflection of the moronic mentality of society today. A little bit of emotion and a little bit of beer and they go nuts.

anyone caught... it should be automatic... no suspended jail sentences..no good behaviour bonds.. no short stints in jail.

Stripped naked so its just themselves up against the mother of all thumpings

Most of the time theyre hiding behind something....wherther its a drug or a weapon or a gang...or some lax law !!

Just plain ignorant.....
