You can Dane.

Failing you doing it.. and going around Gleeson...
......its an impossibility to perform independant reviews.
Just ask Cooke and Costa back at Geelong... but whatever you do.. dont ask Swann and Sticks...

The AFL have people that can do an independant review if you went to them and asked.

Did you know that?
No , it wouldnt be Tony Shaw.......

Did you know its not an impossibility to have an independant review?

But then again YOU and a couple of others would think we dont need it.. everything is going along fantastic

And no need...!!!

I think it might be good.. or it might need reccomendations.
I dotn see why we couldnt have one .. do you???

Dane, i am not sure if you follow stuff but the AFL organise INDEPENDANT reviews for anyone who asks them .
They dont do it, they reccommend the people who can conduct INDEPENDANT reviews.

Of course Sticks can appoint Gleeson to head it up and do his indy review that way.

Hard to follow how INDEPENDANT reviews are set up is it??

Sometimes you don't ask the question if you don't want to hear the answer.

that's why you must set up an independant review and do what the cats did and announce the independant review!
it turned the club around from its apathy to win three flags of five!
it just might be the line in the sand they drew that shook the club to awaken.
but then again cook and Costa did have the balls!

I am not against it but the Cats did a review under a total different set of circumstances. The Cats were way short of expectations, Costa and Cook might have had balls but they also had a gun held to there head. Generally speaking I think we are tracking pretty well in line with expectations. This year is the litmus test though and from what we have seen from the pre season we might be in the same position as the Cats by the end of the season. If we were to fall short I would fully support a review at the end of the season but to conduct a review now before a real football is bounced would be diabolical and a distraction.

Is an INDEPENDANT review the same as an independent review?

I vote that Tommi does a review !

(And not the singing&dancing footy show kind)

Would Sticks allow that ..... ?

ok! so I can't spell!

still does not dismiss having an independant review of the football club!

you guys actually aren't overly concerned it seems.

good!

remember when the last time we had a habit of winning flags was.

none in seventeen and one in twenty five couple that with one finals win in ten years!

success is a habit that will not return unless this club does everything right!

Geelong won there last flag in 1963, we still have plenty of time for our review.

Again guys, please discuss the points, as Synbad and Dane are doing. Otherwise you're just feeding the meter on the same thing you're showing disdain for.

To think I came on here to read a pre match discussion regarding our first hit out for Premiership Points.

Fair point, but it's not a stretch to comment on pre-season performance, and factors involved in what occurred and how it could be addressed. I think it's better to move through that discussion, rather than throwing up road blocks.

How much would this independent review cost? Due to the specialists required I would suggest it would be quite expensive. Who did Geelong use?

Are you sure the AFL provides such a service to Clubs as far as introducing them to independent experts goes? I have not read about it.

If I were the club, I'd sit down with each department, and discuss their practices, who they look to for inspiration and advice in their work, until I dig down and see who they think the best people in their field are, globally. Then I'd suggest we should seek out these people, and invite them to come in and share best practice with us.

I'd then throw them money to do that over a two to four week period, but also to informally (and quietly) present to the board what are critical areas or members of staff that need to be severed. So you have your staff happily accepting an audit with a presentation of what needs to be improved within the existing structure, but then getting the visceral components disclosed privately.

You'd have to fly them here put them up in a hotel, pay them a good fee and offer them opportunities to interact with local industries and academic branches they'd want, but pile up enough incentives and get them in a quiet period at their current practice/club/whatever and you have a staggered, likely 18-month review of every department at the club. The whole exercise might not cost more than a million, and you'd have the best and brightest give you a road map.

Would you guys dole out a million dollars from the coffers for a 20-30 year road map for the club?
