Might have to try something different and go with Cobalt, Gartlett and young Adam Joseph as replacements.

Foll: Kruezer Judd Murphy

Still not a bad side. Any team w Kruezer Judd Murphy Gibbs Yarran will do okay.

Whilst they may well play I can't select Bower or Russell on forml

Start Waite at CHB whilst Jamo out especially as he hasn't had much match time. Can go forward if needed.

Lots of run. If dry night might be worth bringing in Rowe/Casboult.

I'll wait for tomorrow to see Bower, Watson, Russell etc.

As for starting Waite at CHB, don't be ridiculous.
He plays forward, he kicks goals, we ice the game in the first quarter.

Last time we played this mob with no Jamo, no Duigan, Laidler 1st game back from injury, we beat them by a measly 103, because we eased up in the last.
Chicken Bloody Littles.

B Tuohy Henderson Yarran
HB Bower Thornton Scotland
C Simpson Murphy Gibbs
HF Carrazzo Waite Collins
F Garlett Hampson Betts
R Kreuzer Judd Robinson
INT McLean Joseph Davies Lucas (sub)
Emerg: Russell Curnow Armfield

Hendo to Riewoldt, Bower to Vickery, Thornton to Miller. Went with Davies over Russell on form. Think we're a tall short, but don't think Rowe/Casboult/Watson have shown anywhere near enough to come in for team balance. On the other hand, Richmond's tall defenders are pants. Watson plays, Thornton forward. Rowe plays, can pinch hit in ruck and have Kreuzer forward I suppose.

Just can't see McLean and Curnow in the same side happening still.

Not massively happy with the side on the basis that too many blokes in contention with ordinary preseason form, and some may get games to cover team balance alone.

Harsh on Brock... would Armfield add that much? Or Joseph for that matter.

My round 1 team based on what i observed today.

Russell Henderson Joesph
Yarran Bower Scotland
Simpson Robinson Gibbs
Carrazzo Waite Garlett
Thornton Hampson Betts
Kruezer Judd Murphy
Armfield Touhy Lucas (Curnow)

Emrg Mclean Davies Collins

We will go short in the backline in the hope our midfield can get on top of Richmond and allow the forwards to kick a winning score.

If you judge your 22 on todays game you couldnt put Thornton Henda and Bower in the backline. Apart from one marking tall forward for the kanga's the rest were scored from them turning us as we pressed then beating us with pace as they bolted forward.
I would only play Bower and Henda back and play t bird forward with Waite and Hampson.

Different story in the final quarter when our intensity was up, the Roos became turnover merchants.

Jamo, Laidler and Duigan couldn't have stopped the first 15mins of the third quarter, it was purely a midfield not giving a shit, planned or unplanned.

Davies should not be playing next week ahead of Russell. Or Joseph.

Agree with that. If we're being serious, we've got a list of 25 names to pick from at the moment, so selecting a 22 really shouldn't pose a challenge. Davies is not on that list.

Another who is pushing Russell & Armfield ahead of Curnow & McLean? What's the thought process there?

Armfield can surge forward and bag a goal, but I'm yet to see him do a decent defensive job in the midfield or up forward. I think he's a jack of all trades type at the moment. Russell doesn't look in a good spot athletically, so I'd look to use him as a relieving defender in the second half, where he can be a poor man's Duigan with a better kick.

Curnow plays a decent outside game, just needs players to give him a genuine option as he's an average kick. Can play a Carrazzo style game, but then also push into traffic and bring the ball out for others. Brock is a smart and skilled footballer, and I see no harm in giving him a run of games given how much his legs have improved over the pre-season.
