I think youre rationalising.
Lets pretend we wanna lose 4 or 5 pre season games straight... and show little.. in case thats what happens.

Classic loser mentality!!!

part of what you do and dont do and then learn from sunday will have a bearing to how you go the rest of the season....

thats what life is all about.

.. and flags.....

Its abit like the guys who would say "hope we get knocked out of the nab cup so we dont get injuries..."

then the next week you have to go play on some cow paddock in the bush....

The result might not be important.. but you do wanna have the capacity of fighting something out.. getting some confidence and unearthing players.

There is no substitute in the REAL world to those things.....

cos u dont win flags with bugger all preparation and rusty players...

Good players rusty.. or out...???

Lesser tier players hungry for a spot.. competiton!!!

Not excuses!!!

My God, what a rant, and not for the first time.
Have you thought that the players and club are well aware it is a long season, and with 3-1 fatigue is a bigger issue than it has been for years, and so resting players and not wrecking bodies before R1 might be a good idea? Have you thought that maybe it is a sign of maturity that this team now knows they don't have to bend over backwards in pre season? Have you realised we have not fielded close to our best side in any of these mickey mouse games? If we fielded our best side you'd probably complain we didn't trial the kids.
Have you realised in the first 3 games we were in winning positions but lost largely because we didn't deviate from the larger plan to rest key players late in these games? You probably would have preferred we fielded a better side and went hard core in Maroochydore and sapped our energy levels ahead of R1. That would be smart.
Did you hear club say they pick best available and it is their policy and won't stray from that? But you'd rather us pick a less highly rated inside mid than the best available.
And did you hear CFc were no.1 for clearances in 2011. Surely we need more inside mids.

Any chance of a dedicated 'Synbad Rant and Discussion' thread?

I find it a bit overwhelming sometimes, and I'm still not convinced that our beloved Synners is not a giant hoax perpetrated by Trolls and CFC haters anonymous.

I think it's imperative we have a strong performance tomorrow and instil some forward momentum and confidence for the season.

Up til now we've rested big chunks of our best 22 whilst others have eased in - and if we continue to think September, the tiges will 'surprise' us round one.

Injuries, they can happen whether you're trying or coasting...

I for one may not agree entirely with Synbad but I do enjoy his passion and the time he puts into the board.

We all like to come on here to read about our beloved Blues, possibly contribute a little and have worth while debate.

Synbad does not come across as a half wit and has put good time and effort in all of his posts.

He will be the first to admit he is wrong but the pass mark is a flag ... until that time he will scream from the top of his lungs that he is right and defend his opinion.

Why people give him a hard time, when without him there would be so much less to read is beyond me.

Well done Synbad ... I may not agree with all your opinions but your hard work at maintaining your argument gives me time to do something I enjoy while spending my free time ... reading about my beloved blues!

You concentrate on finding midfielders you hear??? and leave the footy stuff with us....

ill be more cross if your wish list for draft week is a bunch more hbfers...

What do you guys do at these TAC games anyway???? Talk about how a guy who was never good enough to be a midfielder and not tall enough to be a key position player is a walk up start as a midfielder in the elite level???

Getting back on track and away from me for a minute... i know its hard for some of you.

But tomorrow will be a very good test for us.... they have a few strong inside midfielders and not much outside running.
We will be tested in the centre square at stoppages.

Theyre not a great side but theyre ok.
Ill be looking at how we go inside against them.

that would be the most imporant thing for me in this game.

No argument here. I've had North coming longer than us.

Good test for the defenders as well, who plays on McIntosh or Goldstein will interest me. Watson can play himself into the team with a solid effort as the third defender taking these two.

I can't speak for the rest but I normally get there late, wander around to get a pie, watch a quarter or so, have a nanna nap and leave about 10 minutes into the 4th to beat the traffic. I think I find a better class of HBFer with that regime.

Whatever it is you guys are doing... making bets who can pick a hbf that will one daay be a midfielder with our picks.. its better to just not project too much ... and imagine too much...... and just choose a midfielder that our multi million dollar academy can groom .(uunless we dont think its any good)... cos midfielders are mids for a reason.. just try it somes time.. spread it around..... maybe they havent thought about it...

radical idea i know.....but it just might work....

I'll pass on your thoughts. I hope to get to Rd 1 of the TAC next week but Mrs Caz wants me to go shopping for some new curtains so I'll have to see how I go. Fingers crossed she likes the 1st ones she sees but I wouldn't hold your breath. :sly: :sly:

With the injuries we have to important players, it's time someone stood out from the pack of fringe dwellers to make a statement.
Walker, Duigan, Laidler, Jamo are all walk-up starts to the best 22 on last year's form. Warnock may or may not be, depending on the MC roles for Kreuzer and Hampson. The reality is, we have a tough first few weeks and unless we can unearth some decent depth, we could get off to a poor start and it will be hard to recover from there.

Who will it be? Russell, Bower, Collins, Watson, McLean? Someone from left field? That would be great. A new star from the wilderness.

Tomorrow is the last chance to show you deserve a game against Richmond, whoever you are.

I'd be betting on Lucas, Collins and McLean in that order. If the others can make an impact and help hold their own to cover our injured players then that would be the icing on the cake/mango on the pavlova.

Worked with Adam Bentick, Brett Johnston, Greg Bentley, Richard Hadley, Darren Pfeiffer, Jaryd Cachia, Brock McLean didn't it?

Inside midfielders don't grow on trees Synbad, and it may surprise you to know we've been trying to recruit one a long time before it became your latest obsession.

Woman never buy the first thing they like.
They will spend hours looking for something better and either;
a/ buy the first thing they saw or;
b/ get so confused and not buy anything at all.

Anyway it will be interested game today played in perfect conditions.

You can throw in Ryan Jackson as well. He was going to be the next Greg Williams according to a astute observer of talent on another site.
