Big box, small tissues.

Good call. May not win a game all season. Wheels have fallen off. I'm off to mortgage my house to put it all on the Tigers round 1.

I was too tired to sit up and watch. Glad I didn't. Big day today. 20+ for lunch on the patio with the wintry temp hovering around 30 and the waves off the Gulf of Mexico kissing the beach 5 metres away.

40 years of work and this is all I have to show for it.

And Rd 1 is still a couple of weeks away. With Corona and Heineken costing $1 a can I may have to get a part-time job to afford the beer a half time.

Thanks for the post match comments by the way.

If Collingwood and Geelong aren't taking their scores seriously, then why should we?

Truth is, the final score is irrelevant. Getting a run and easing players into top gear is what matters......

Just would like to know the last time we did not score in a half of footy, be it a Mickey Mouse comp or not.

Not a good one for the record books.

We will be fine, we will beat richmond nothing to worry about,.My only concern was that we failed to score in the second half and
like ratts said a few of the youngsters failed to stamp their authority on the game therefore not staking their claim to play round 1.
Will be interesting next weekend against north with hopefully close to full strength squad

Really, Murphy and Carrots were only our true centre square mids to miss.
The way we conceded clearances was a real eye opener.
Plenty of work for Mark Riley to do.

Robinson?

Anyway, it does seem we lack midfield depth yet we did little to address it at the previous draft. :?

Yep. Robbo is definitely a quality mid now. We miss his aggression and intensity.
Collins came in off the line and created a couple of clearances which adds another string to our bow.
All in all, we had half of our best 22 on the sidelines. I expected us to be beaten convincingly and we were.
Probably the lack of second tier midfielders to stop the avalanche is the only real concern for me. Once Brisbane broke us open, our inability to put the brakes on was disappointing.

BV hit nail on head. Biggest disappointment is that without the "A" team running through the middle, we seem to struggle. This was the game for a couple to stand up in there. Synbad might just be right - maybe we do need more geniune midfielders to push through.
Other than that - not really worried about the result.

All things aside, we got thrashed by shit opposition and didn't even score after 1/2 time. That just ain't acceptable and I think its more than fair for people to be annoyed. A thought should also be spared to our Qld supporters who had to see that. Great advertisement for us in a developing area.

Can someone tell me how Rowe and Casboult played? Is either one a chance for round 1?

Injecting the ball winning ability of Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Scotland, Robinson and Carrazzo will certainly help, plus Judd was going at half rat power.

Lucky we're mostly playing night games this year. We couldn't handle the sun yesterday.

Collins in the midfield was a revelation.

Betts and Garlett may well have resulted on a couple of more goals in the first half, and having Waite have a run was good to see as was Walker even though he hardly got into the game.

Certainly was a medioachre second half of footy though.

13 of our top 18 out. Judd, Tex, Waite, Duigan first run - in some ways it's like these four were coming back through the reserves, so if you accept that then what it means is we played our reserves team with four veterans getting a run with that reserves team. Pretend the missing 13 were playing seniors at the G, with the four veterans easing their way back this week n will rejoin the 13 next week = 17 almost a top 18. Make sense? Where's the fire?? Cats n Pies n Blues all got smashed. Perspective folks ! But Synbad will call it Armageddon of course. It is 2012 after all

Yeah because the winning from the pre seasons of 2005 and 2007 served us well in the season proper didnt it...
What did people expect to happen when we were fielding a 3rd string team...

Look we should be thrilled the team is seasoned and professional now. They are at a stage now where they don't have to prove sheet in summer games

Can't hide the fact that I was disappointed for the lack of spirit, but hardly any cause for concern.
I did though expect a little more effort from some players needing to make a statement in order to put their names up for round 1.
That didn't happen and there may not be an opportunity now for any fresh faces to surface against Richmond. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.

We'll see close to the best side we can put on the park next week, so let's reserve any further judgement until then.
50/50 on Jamison at the moment, but even if he does front, it will only be for half a game.
