H + A Round 2 Brisbane v CFC

Jon Brown out with an injury to his cheekbone for at least the first 2 H + A rounds

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl ... 6285028062

"JONATHAN Brown will undergo surgery tonight after scans confirmed the Brisbane Lions captain has suffered a fractured cheekbone.

The injury rules Brown out of the remainder of the NAB Cup and at least the first two rounds of the AFL premiership.

Speaking to The Courier-Mail outside his facial surgeon's South Brisbane clinic, the Lions skipper said early scans had confirmed he had a fractured left cheek but hoped the injury was not as serious as the one that sidelined him last season.

"We'll get this fixed up and it should be all right in a few weeks hopefully," Brown said.

Brown was rushed to hospital for scans on his face after crashing into a pack at training this morning."

Starting to think there might be something to this brain damage data coming out of the USA. He might be permanently impaired in judgement. That or too much sun.

I'm starting to think he's just plain old stupid, and believes he can take anyone in his way. :P

Can anyone tell me the best spot to sit at the GABBA? Will be my first match there after moving up from Vic this year.

NAB Cup Round 3
21 Feb 2012
for lions.com.au

Tickets for the Brisbane Lions' Round 3 NAB Cup clash against Carlton at Maroochydore are selling fast, with only several hundred tickets remaining.

Fans are urged to buy tickets tonight to avoid missing out.

AFL Queensland Acting CEO Mark Browning said "It's a great response from the local community and we're really pleased to be able to bring live AFL to the Coast this year.

"We're expecting a crowd of 5,000 people for the match and to sell so many tickets in just over two weeks is fantastic. It certainly sends a strong message about the interest in our game," he said.

As it's the first AFL game on the Coast, AFL Queensland staff have worked hard with stakeholders including Council and the Police to ensure all aspects of the event operation are smooth and successful. The venue capacity was set at 5,000 people for public comfort and good viewing.

Local senior and junior AFL Clubs will also benefit, with the Maroochy North Shore Roos seniors operating the bars and Sunshine Coast Juniors staffing the canteens. All profits from the sale of the food and drinks will go back into supporting local football.

Remaining tickets can be purchased from Ticketmaster by visiting ticketmaster.com.au or phoning 1300 136 122.

It will be a great afternoon including free entertainment for the kids with the AFL Playground open before and during the match. Fans are encouraged to bring their own footballs to join in the traditional after match Kick-to-Kick on the main oval.

yeah..nah....

Maybe, it is the best spot after all...if they will be showing the game on a big screen there.

I once went to Telstra Dome for a game that was at Telstra Stadium. Me and the 10 other people wandering around were very sheepish. Would never happen now thanx to TC.

Problem with the Gabba is that it is a small capacity and most of the good vantage points are taken up by BCC and Lions members. Good spots are available to the visiting teams/general public, however, you noramlly pay a lot for them ie 40 -70 nicka.

There are some restricted viewing seats, so obviously avoid them e.g. scoreboard blocks the goal square and goals. Also try to avoid the rows too far back in the councourse area on the Stanley Street side, you can't see the ball in the air because of the overhanging concrete stand. Id say that would affect maybe the last ten rows...
