Hope the Spirit of Carlton dies a slow death. What a shocking decision to exclude supporters from being members for 2012. The money was good in the tough times but now you want to make it a elite club with our money not good enough.

I have two words for you Spirit of Carlton

GET STUFFED.

I actually hope the Past Players Association is successful. Unfortunately, that's not what it will be called. There needed to be a name change - and that's not going to happen. The powers that be (Geoff Southby, David Rhys-Jones, Jason Reddick, David McKay, David Nettlefold, Denis Munari, Alex Marcou & Matthew Hogg) decided to keep the name.

“We just want to help them. We’re not going to leave them alone until they revive the spirit of Carlton for which the Carlton Football Club has been renowned and pass that on to the next generation." - SoC, 2007

Agreed - we just want to help. And as a united front, the ex-players and supporters dug deep...helped revive the spirit for which the club was renowned....but will the Spirit of Carlton be revived with ex-players.? No. And can it be done financially without the supporters assistance? Of course not. So does that mean the current players no longer need supporter funds to compete with the best? Yes. No funds required.

You don't even have to read between the lines. It's written in blue and white for all to see. The club believe it will win two premierships over the next 4-5 years...the money will stream in, the debt will take care of itself, the tab for the trips to Qatar will be picked up by someone...and new gym equipment can be depreciated - but will last until Josh Bootma plays his 300th...or thereabouts...no problem.

I'm all for a strong Past Players Association...that is imperative....but the 'Spirit of Carlton' is dead. We now have current players and thousands of supporters who have no recollection of Carlton success. And by success, I mean Premierships. Yet through those past players connection to the supporters, the younger member/supporter started to understand where the club had come from.

If they were going to take the SoC in a different direction - they should have changed the name. It's now a completely different entity.

By the same token - This is like 'flogging a dead horse'...or in Wall St speak - 'stop selling after the close'! What's done is done. Time to move on.

Anyone else receive an Email from SOC offering tickets to the GWS and Adelaide games?

Yes. Endevour Room is nice too. But it's a bit of a slap in the face doing this. I won't be partaking. Many will.

Thats what I thought.

Is this a case of 'oh we have all these excess tickets...what do we do with them'?

Obviously our first home games at Etihad this season so maybe it was the plan all along.
