2.5-3 goal avg. Would work out to be a 40-50goals.

If your playing a FF position all season thats what we need.

I agree.

I really don't think Hampson is cut out for it, but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

i think 2.5-3 goals a game is a bit excessive. 2.5 a game works out to 55 goals, We need that kind of average from Waite.
just out of interest, what does a Bonafide FF like Fev, J.Riewoldt etc average per game over their career?

1-2 goals a game from hammer would be brilliant if he was playing a permanent forwards role

Of our 3 v good ruckmen, i see Kruez as the one who could play fwd for 22 games and worry the opposition on a regular basis.

Happy to be proved wrong but I see Hampton as mobile ruckmen only.

Well Eddie Betts and Walker kicked 50 goals this year between them.
Marc Murphy even kicked 22 goals.

When the ball is booted in there 40-50 times a game with our great midfield to a big beam pole, he should always have a chance to kick a few goals every game.

For those who see HIM as a natural forward.

Hampson is not the answer to our forward line woes.

Well, we have a relative lack of 30 year old, questionably reformed alcoholic, gambloholic, repeat offenders that we've already sacked, for the FF position

What I meant kk was that we need a key forward. That in itself is a 'woe', as they do not grow on trees.

I love asking these sorts of questions.

2.5 goal average - over 22 games = 55 goals
3 goal average - over 22 games = 66 goals

Then add goals from finals...

Bearing in mind for 2011,

@ 2.5 goals/game, 55 goals would be equal 7th goal scorer in the league alongside barry hall. If you add in 2 finals @ 2.5/game (ie what we played this year) - thats another 5 goals and would see hampson on 60 goals for the year and rated as the 4th highest goal scorer in the league.

@ 3 goals/game, 66 goals would have seen hampson rated as the 3rd best goal scorer in the league during the 2011 season and ahead of the 2010 coleman medallist in reidwoldt. Adding in 2 finals for another 6 goals and hampson would have finished 2nd on the goal kicking ladder behind franklin.

Now taking the above into account, do you REALLY think a 2.5-3 goal average is a fair pass mark for someone who will be spending their first full season up forward?

I can see where people are coming from with their doubts over Hammers forward play as well as conversion once he gets it, but I think they have a list management problem. Either they find a way to fit all three into the team that works, or they will have to trade one of Warnock or Hammer. If they can't get it to work I can't see either being happy playing out the year or coming years in the ressies hoping for an injury to someone, nor do you want the coin needed to retain them being wasted on a backup.

You also run the risk of getting Kreuzer offside if he has to play predominately forward and with other clubs circling the big guy, we don't want that. The big bloke loves the ruck and a big money offer plus a guaranteed number 1 ruck spot could be tough to refuse. I think basing our forwardline on what has worked for West Coast is problematic as their big blokes have very different skill sets to ours. We'll just have to see what they come up with I guess

I'd be happy with 1.5 goals a game from Hammer and the same amount in scoring assists.

I'll be stoked if he allows an absolute minimal amount of contested marks against him, if he doesn't mark it then neither does his opponent.

I'd like to see some party tricks happening also, some centre bounce type taps from long kicks into the forward line to Eddie and co running past. You don't have to mark it all the time

May need an official CFC press conference to further discuss issues like that

Yes Woj...Thesis being presented on the hat wearing incident...followed by coffee table book, dvd and doco to be screened on SBS.

Apart from that, I think he mentioned that Jordy Russell will spend more time in the mid field.

also..no news on Juddy just yet.

interesting - JRs instinctive decision making will be the key to his success in that role

I agree Rexy. It is interesting.
Quietly looking forward to what JR might bring to that role.
