Not convinced the Blues have the required discipline to go further, as still evidenced in a few games this year and particulerly the 2nd Q in the semi final. I had hoped that such lapses of discipline would be gone by now ... the modern game requires hard nosed discipline in regard to hard running both ways, sticking to team rules and not giving away dumb frees. I still believe we have a way to go in these areas, as well as some skill development and being better able to withstand the tendency to panick under close pressure. Time will tell I guess, but the message must get across.

While I'm all for a more disciplined approach from the players to keep their heads and not give away cheap frees, I think there needs to be a few tweaks to team rules as well, as some of them are inherently frustrating.

That said, there's nothing to suggest that won't happen.

The Carlton Football Club has acknowledged the marked improvement in the performance of its playing group, in reappointing Senior Coach Brett Ratten for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The Board of Directors ratified the Club’s decision at a meeting at Visy Park last week, in the aftermath of a campaign which had seen Ratten coach his players to fifth place and complete their first finals victory in AFL competition since 2001.

Interesting that this comes so soon after Icke's departure

Ratt's from last night!

Brilliant stuff from Ratts, said without a hint of arrogance miss-guided belief...................

50,000 members and a Top 4 Spot should be a MINIMUM of not only what we as fan, but also the players themselves expect..........because we are good enough to achieve this!

To be totally honest with you.............. I fully believe that we are capable of winning this thing next year!

- Geelong will still be a force despite loosing Ling / Mooney / probably Ottens
- collingwood ditto, but less so now that Malthouse is gone
- West Coast have drafted well and if Cox and Kerr can follow their form they too can stay inside the top 4.

Then there is us..........................and we can match it with the likes of the above.

Go Ratts. Behind you 100%!

You're also missing one other team that still has us shitting bricks every time we play them.

Interesting piece by Ray Mclean for AFL.com.au

Our definition at Leading Teams of a strong professional relationship is when you can have uncomfortable conversations with one another without reprisal.

In functional teams there is an acceptance that we will sometimes have conflict, but we are strong enough to resolve this.

Having worked at the Carlton Football Club for the past two seasons, we are pleased to now see some acknowledgment for the in-roads the senior coach, Brett Ratten, has made in this area.

He has taken responsibility for driving the development of these strong relationships with both the coaching and playing staff. I feel this has enabled him to understand far more about the motivation of individuals within the team and as a consequence, enabled him to have much more open dialogue with players about their performance and development.

Steven Icke re-signed. :sly:
