Interesting to see Dean Bailey has joined Adelaide as their "strategy and innovation coach" - I had been thinking the next possible addition to our own group could be one directly responsible for innovation.

So will he be looking for new ways to lose by 30 goals?

What's wrong with an assistant coach looking for innovation in his area?

A couple of things;

1. Dean Bailey has showen everything but "strategy and innovated coaching". If anything I thought he was from the Denis Pagan school of coaching.

2. Why would our midfield coach need a full time stoppage coach? What's Riley going to work on?
I'd prefer a defensive coach to go along with our forward/ruck & midfield coach!

Gavin Brown is defensive coach.
Williams will work exclusively on stoppages all over the ground including boundary throw ins.
He will work with the onballers AND the forwards/defenders to get the setups right.
Sydney have been regarded as the experts at stoppages.
If we can continue to improve at this and still keep the speed and spread we will be very hard to stop.
I'd still love more work done on our kick ins and goal kicking.

Probably for analyzing the stoppages of the other 17 clubs as well.
I think the club is "leaving nothing to chance" and I think it's a wise strategy .

I think this appointment could about insurance if AR or GB gets the gig with the saints.

If they don't, then it's another good footy head around the place.

Wondering if Brownie might be going back to the Pies?

Pretty sure he's not allowed to. You can no longer break an assistant coaching contract for another one, only for a senior gig.

Can't find any mention of the length of contract he signed. I'd assume it was more than 1 year though?

Billy I have no doubt he will do work like that but my point, even though it wasn't well written is more why don't we get a backman coach and/or a forward coach to help out as well? It seems these days we have more coaches then players.

Just on this, why does Buckley need a mentor such as Eade if his done an apprentership under malthouse for 2 years? Hirdy didn't do an apprentership - so that is understandable but Buckley needs his hand held???? They are going to implode and I'm going to love every minute!

They had to put someone in a role otherwise it would show that there plans for Malthouse were not genuine.

We were No. 1 for scoring a goal from kick ins - can't ask for anymore than that.

I think he's referring to them separately.

Our goal conversion rate was pretty average, and too often we'd aim for a pack outside 50 from a kick-in.

That is probably due to us kicking so many points

I always thought he was a bit of a fish out of water, myself; a bit like Malcolm Turnbull with the Libs.
