Me likey this appointment... A others have said, we cant stand still if we want to further improve and break into the Top 4 next year....
The high quality level of Saturday's GF showed us just how well we re going to have to play if we re to challenge next year

The absolute excitement in his voice was unmistakable. Wasn't so much what he said but how he said it and the enthusiasm. He said he could not knock back a chance to work with Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Warnock and Kreuzer. Said that was just simply too good to refuse.

Wouldnt have a clue about Williams capabilities.............the thing is,people want to get on board. Its starting to get like the old days, when Carlton WAS THE PLACE TO BE.Bit of hype and excitement about the place. We are slowly regaining our AURA.

Thats because anyone with any decent knowledge of the game can see that we're on the cusp of something special...

This.

He was genuinely rapted (at least he sounded so).

We just need a defensive kick-in coach, a running bounce coach and a shoelace tying coach and we're set.

We need a drink mixing coach too. I've seen Judd take a little too much from bottle A and not enough from bottle B.

While I'm not 100% on the appointment, I love the new role. If we can become 5-15% more effective with our stoppage play, that adds a lot more run and clean disposal to our game. The knock-on effect would see us demolish most teams and become ultra-competitive against the sides that have had our measure at stoppages.

It also means we have a specialist coach to develop the inside types we have and may acquire.

Going purely by such stats is dangerous. I still feel there are periods in games where we are made completely ineffective in the middle - we were smashed by West Coast, the Bulldogs and Collingwood for example. We should always be looking for improvement

Absolutely spot on.

Sydney were the stoppage kings, and Williams was a champ.
Great candidate for this role.

I'm for it.
Hopefully along with Matty C he can help Warnock develop into the number one tap ruck in the league.

Here's a quick rundown of Williams' interview:

- BR rang Willo late last week, quick convo and deal settled
- Really excited to be part of Carlton FC
- Grateful for opportunity at Bulldogs to take on caretaker role, learnt a lot from application process too
- Working with Riley, concentrating on stoppages, exciting due to calibre of coaches at Carlton
- Reckons we have close to best coaching panel in AFL
- Excited to work with our mids and ruck combos
- Will start next week
- Didn’t apply for Saints job (reading between lines his management advised not to)
- Difficult to coach against Blues’ mids when with Dogs this year
- Can’t wait to get to club, feels like a new recruit
- Improvement to come from a few tweaks, has knowledge in area of stoppages
- Caretaker role with Dogs helped him better understand his long-term ambitions
- Learnt that senior role requires much more attention, surprised at how much time players outside of best 22 required

Cheers

To keep up the ex-filth tradition we should get Peter McKenna on board to teach the boys how to kick a goal or three

Would have preferred Peter Dean to coach the defence
Think the stoppages are not our problem. We just need to address the defensive. Stoppage where we get scored against

SB, you`d have to give credit to Brown for our defence this year. You`d think Williams will work on the stoppages where we get scored against.
My slight knock on him is Melb and Bulldogs midfields have been disappointing at times while he has been there.
Still, like the way he has immediately said "our", "we" and Blubaggers in his interviews. Reminded me of Scotland when he first came over.
