While I will never forget black Friday, it is a comfort to know that following 2011 and after a decade of what can only be described as a deeply traumatic period, Carlton is now placed a mirror image of where it was in 2001 (finished 5th in that year as well).

Of course our probable trajectory 10 years on - is the exact opposite of what it was at that time.

Following Rattens re-signing, I think that there are 2 flags to come with this group.

The second of these will be with a new young coach - with a team that has an experienced core - but also with many very new and young players..

For me, it is also a major consolation that the discomfort of what looks to be a probable Collingwood flag may well be significantly offset by a brownlow to Judd.

Collingwood fancy themselves to win their 16th and then another - But instead Carlton should skip clear to 18 flags in coming years.

Save for tokenistic finals appearances - Essendon* will not be a serious premiership threat for many years.

This is all very nice and all but it's about winning premierships. I liked Clarko's reaction last night. It means nothing unless you win premierships.

Yes. We can wax triumphant and when we've won a flag.

So until then we have to keep quiet not have any pride in our club?

That's more than slightly ridiculous.

Nah, Ratts just has to turn into a self-absorbed vitriolic arsehole. Then we'll all be happy.

I agree Sugarcane, who cares about having "honourable losses" and being "proud of our efforts". Leave that to the St Kilda's of this world.

It is all about Premierships and winning flags....

You assume we are on the cusp of a new era? Things might turn out things might not. If all we get is a few prelims and a loss in a granny then it all means zilch, or have the dark years infected your memory of what being Carlton is all about? Being Carlton is about premierships, that's what ratten said when he came back. That's our culture. Don't start touching eachothers dicks til we get back to where we are supposed to be. Strike me if some cfc faithful haven't gotten soft in the last ten years and now border on accepting mediocrity. I bet you Sticks isn't happy and content. The Ahole has a flag and just lost a prelim and isn't content and won't accept the also ran-ness. It's the uncompromising culture that used to define us.

Geez verbeek is that all you can say?? Your starting to sound like a broken record. And for the record, Ratts has done good this year but not one win against top four in five attempts and I'd take clarkson ahead of him any day of the week Ahole or not

More propaganda from the Cazzes. Tell you what, you talk of pride, well I say we will lose our pride unless we win a flag.
Not one win against top four with Scotto 31, Waite 29, n Judd 28.
Not saying we are in strife but clearly a lot of work to be done. Any idiot can see from
last nites game we are a fair bit off the pace. As I said, let's not touch eachother's dicks yet OK

Ahhh Sugar, I will let you into a little secret. I have never considered myself a gifted athlete and yet I have had a fair amount of success across a few sports, represemted Australia in one, and won a significant peer award (a sort of B & F) in antoher and a premiership or two in a third. Success to me is simple. Work harder and smarter than anyone else, get really good people around you, always look forward and be positive even when it is going horribly wrong.

Negetivity is destructive and those who whinge, moan and complain do not last and achievce little. And I clean them out of my professional and person life post haste.

The club is in a very good position right now and that needs to be acknowledged. Are we there yet? Nope. Do we a way to go yet. Absoloutly and everything I am hearing from the club acknowledges that. Are we touching each others dicks yet? Possibly but I would rather have my dick touched than to be [REDACTED] in the arse by ...........

I think it's ok to enjoy the journey..as long as we are improving every year...which we are right now.
All in good time...
next few years...mostpeople are excited about that...
but can't please all of the people ...as they say.
