Hope so. I don't really see the value of getting him.

Craigy would be good.

I am ambivalent about Craig.

Has a reputation for flogging players and is meant to be known for his sport science nouse, when in reality there are plenty others with more knowledge.

Yes, he has experience but he has not won a flag. I know he did under Blight but how much did he contribute?

Just not sure.

Well done to Ratts on his 2 year deal. I am happy, and I really hope he succeeds in getting us to no 17. One thing I noted that made me think of Ratts though was listening to Clarkson's press conference tonight. The last thing he wanted to talk about was bad luck about losing, or pride in Hawthorn's performance. It was a little harsh almost, but I loved how hard nosed he was about it - to him only winning matters. I reckon Ratts needs a bit of this, after losses i find he emphasises the positives too much for my liking.

True.

Ratts hasn't been coaching as long though. And I reckon next year he'll be more hard-nosed about things - I think the semi-final loss will be burning in the club's mind for a very long time.

Wow... Bagging Ratts because he's an optimist. Man that guy has so many faults.

Ratts is like Julia Gillard to some supporters. No matter what he does it will be wrong even though they have no viable althernatives.

Quite right he has, which makes some of the viterol he has receivced by some even more baffling.

BTW Every single piece of legislation Julia has put before Parliment has passed despite the huffing and puffing of Abbot and co. Not bad for a 'illegimate' minority Government. And our economy is the envy of the world. Again not bad_________________

Even Pagan was more popular than Gillard with our electorate. She's a muppet who you would bag if she wasn't on the left. Even Demetriou would do a better job and handle the criticism better than Gillard. We criticise Ratten's press conferences and honesty about injuries, yet Gillard would refuse to take questions if she was coaching Carlton. Great question time about Craig Thompson. Double standards all round. The bias in politics makes Collingwood supporters appear rational and intelligent.

I wouldn't classify it as bagging, just pointing something out. Hardly frothing at the mouth sakc ratts type anger.

Ratten was interviewed at the AFLCA awards and said he had signed.

I reckon if we had lost to Essendon* that Alan Richardson would have been the new coach.....

If we lost to Essendon*, Paul Roos would have been coach.

Cousin is very close friends with Roo's and said that Carlton had already agreed to terms with Roo's for 1.5-2mil per year. The board was split as to the value of spending that amount of coin on a coach that would only return to coaching for the Big $$$ and worried that we could repeat the malcom blight scenario.

Obviously such an emphatic win put talks with Roo's on hold pending a competitive outcome in Perth, which we all saw Roo's desperate effort in the paper on how to beat us.

Not convinced the Blues have the required discipline to go further, as still evidenced in a few games this year and particulerly the 2nd Q in the semi final. I had hoped that such lapses of discipline would be gone by now ... the modern game requires hard nosed discipline in regard to hard running both ways, sticking to team rules and not giving away dumb frees. I still believe we have a way to go in these areas, as well as some skill development and being better able to withstand the tendency to panick under close pressure. Time will tell I guess, but the message must get across.

I dont think sanity had anything to do with it.
