It appears Shaun Hampson has re-signed with the football club for a further 3 years.

What do we think?

I for one am glad we are retaining him. Could yet prove to be a vital cog in this team. Has some outstanding attributes and talents just needs a good injury free run. Has shown promising glimpses at times this year.

Would hate to see him leave and thrive at another club. Was bad enough losing Jacobs.

Great news - I'm expecting a breakout year from Hammer in 2012.

Very happy.

Hampson at 27 will be a football god.

Stoked!

This bloke has a massive upside. I'd love to see him in a permanent forward role ala Petrie (*cough*) or Tippett.

Considering that not once this year did we have all 3 of our rucks fit....

No. Settle down. Get it out logically.

WC proved against us that a couple of really good ruckman can be th difference between winning and losing, especially when one of them can jump over tall buildings in a single bound.
Theoretically we should have that same advantage as we have a very promising ruck brigade.
At this point not one of our rucks is at the highpoint of their careers, with Warnock probably furthest along that path. He has improved a huge amount from the guy who walked in the door from Freo with a handful of senior games to his name. Similarly, Hampson has shown great athleticism and promise, although he has frustrated many with his marking and kicking.
We didn't have that sort of advantage this year (2011) because there was not one single game when all of our rucks were fit and in form. I would go as far as saying that each week we were lucky to have 1 fit ruckman. For a while we had 2, and wasn't that nice!
Even at this point we'll be very lucky if the 3 rucks are fit enough to start PST on time. Hampson is getting better and doesn't look like he needs a post season op. Kreuzer has had his: hopefully the 'dead foot' thing is fixed as well.
Now that Hampson has signed for 3 years we can start developing these guys to be our version of 'Land of the Giants'. No other team has 3 good rucks like we do. We can't guarantee that they'll all be on the field at the same time, as it hasn't happened yet. But if we can keep 2 of them going each week....

Hampson committing to the club is very good news. Of our rucks he is probably the most athletic. He is faster than NicNat and can jump over tall buildings as well as he can. Having him there gives us options.

I'd like to see how things go with a good preseason behind all 3 rucks: it could be the difference between getting to the last week in September and ... not.

Fantastic news.

Hopefully Ratts turns him into a Full Forward over the pre-season.

Does anyone think that this is a sign that Kreuzer is seen as a little "iffy" with his foot and knee problems?
