I thought it would be best to wait a few days for some of our fury at the weekend's events to subside (if it hasn't, maybe come back and vote a bit later  ) to look back on our losses for the year and what we hopefully learned from them. I've also included the scum draw, as they gained far more from that than we did (and were so brave).

My vote still goes to the Bulldogs game. Our other losses, however painful/@#$%&! annoying they were, all had some circumstances that made them somewhat more acceptable. Most famously that they were all top 6 teams (not sure if this has ever been mentioned by anyone) and thus are @#$%&! hard to beat on any day. The Dogs game on the other hand was simply unacceptable in every way, and was like a flashback to our late-2010 form when we let ourselves get pushed to the back foot early and had to climb back. Also, considering what was at stake and how the ladder ended up, it simply shouldn't have happened. That the Dogs played like shit for the whole season prior to this game, and for the rest of the year after it (losing to our top 4 rivals along the way so they could jump over us) only makes it worse.

The Dogs game ws the worst loss as we wer over 4 goals up and flying at one stage against a pretty mediocre opponent, but then all of a sudden for some reason, the wheels totally fell off....
The West Coast loss came be somewaht excused in a way, as we played that day with a decimated back half (no Laidler, Duigan, and Jamo was injured very early on as well).

The weird thing is, even when we did get a few goals up we were FAR from dominating. In fact, they looked the better and more committed side from the first bounce.

It was another game whre our inaccurate kicking for goal when we were up and running came back to bite us when the opposition got on a role...

In the Dogs game we built our lead thanks to 2 very generous 50s in our favour. We never looked in control though. I thought at the time we played like we had one eye on the following week’s blockbuster against Coll.

I called it then and nothing changed my mind. The back to back losses to WC & Doggies cost us TOP4 and therefore any chance of achieving success!

The draw. Not because it was Esserdun, but because it eventually cost us 4th place.

I voted Hawthorn.

I'll discount Saturday night because it was a final, and we put in a great effort missing 3 of our best 6 players and got done by the umps to lose by 3 points.

The first WCE loss was tough because we were missing so many important players, and in a way we were due. It ended up being critical and a true 8 point game (and our worst losing margin), but with no Laidler, Duigan, Robbo, Jamo (for 3 quarters) etc. we were just up against it.

The Bulldogs game was hopeless because we lost to a sub-standard opposition from a winning position. Just hopeless and this kind of performance should be erased from our 2012 season.

For me, the Hawthorn game was our worst loss. It was hyped as one of the games of the season, and our chance at a top 4 spot, and we didn't even rock up till half time. We burned so many chances against a genuine top 4 opposition, and with a 2 quarter head start, they could only beat us by 2 goals. If we had have shown up from the start, or at least taken a couple of chances (Jeffy missing from 15 meters) the season may have looked very different.

For some reason i picked the Geelong game. We played very well and should have won it, and I think we would have gotten so much out of a win.

The Dogs played very well, one of the few times they played good footy for the year. It happens.

Cats game for me. Won that and I reckon we might have been chasing third even 2nd spot and have the self belief to go on with it.

 we finished 10 points short of 4th place.

Still, the drawn game was our worst game of the year.

I thought it would be what would cost us 4th place, but losing to the Hawks fixed that.

Not counting the Saints game - it was clear we shut up shop after half time.

This^

Was the worst half of footy i have seen all year bar none in the first. It is also the only game i have ever left at half time, as i thought stuff it i am not wasting a friday night watching us serve up this timid rubbish. Hawthorn continue to mentally own us. At least we played our normal style in the 2nd half(which i got home in time to watch on delayed telecast). A monkey i want off the back next year, the sooner in the season the better.

Geelong by a mile.

Robby should never had taken the shot for goal

This reminded me of Fev's miss from 15m against Hawthorn at the G a few years ago

These sorts of losses kill you
