Let's hope that Robert Harvey or SOS do get the St Kilda job. :donk:

I agree entirely.
I heard him talk mid season. He was very composed and made the complex (such as the forward press) seem very straightforward. Struck me as a no nonsense kind of guy, who clearly knew what he was talking about. This was just after the west coast game and he made some very good comments about what would happen through the latter part of the year, all of which came to pass. I suspect the players would really respond to him.
I think we need to work really hard to keep him.

I suppose the most recent appointee's have all been part of professional outfits, but premiership outfits. Richo was at the Pies, but before they won the flag , then had a wonderful time at the Bombers whilst Knights was there. Now he's with us, i suppose one way to get a senior gig is to make sure we get to the top.

He'd also know that clubs with, financial problems, an unstable managment, shadowy powerbrokers and a sh1t list can be terminal to your long term coaching prospects.

True

Not sure the Saints job as it currently stands would suit him.

According to Rucci we're apparently into Neil Craig
Quote:
NEIL Craig's list of suitors is getting longer. Carlton - having decided to keep coach Brett Ratten - is preparing to outbid every AFL rival on signing Craig as a "senior assistant" or "coaching director".

The Blues are ready to beat Brisbane and Victorian rivals Melbourne and Richmond to hire Craig, whose future has been subject to much conjecture in the past month.

First chased by the Lions, Craig then was said to be on the verge of signing a three-year deal to support Richmond coach Damien Hardwick.

Then at the weekend he emerged as Melbourne's choice to support the Demons' novice coach Mark Neeld.

Craig refuses to make any public comment on his future until he chooses a club.

There are just two certainties now with Craig's role in football next season - it will not be at the Crows, where he remains on staff, nor at Port Adelaide, which is prepared to talk to Craig but is not having its calls answered.

Guess who our current "senior assistant" is

Watters, Hinkley and AR are all good candidates for the job.....all with top 5 side experience. Head coaching roles do not come easily - this year being an exception to the rule - so you would expect AR to be keen to land the gig. (Interesting comparison was C Scott who wanted the Port role the previous year.

To lose AR's startegic and developmental skills would be a significant loss. I wonder who the Blues have as the back up plan?

Agreed. He would be a big loss and this late in the day we would be hard pressed to replace him with quality, but a senior role would be impossible for him to turn down even at the Saints as they are now.

Not sure where Peter Dean has gone or that it has anything to do with Richardson possibly leaving but just noticed this one, if Richardson did go and we had to find another assistant he'd be alright.

It's one of those jobs where the candidate does the due dilligence on the employer.

Don't get me wrong...I like Peter Dean as a Carlton person and club legend in my mind.....but he is no AR. Not even in the same league

Had Hird of not applied for the senior gig at Essendon* Richardson would now be their coach. The fact that we took Paul Williams might be a sign that the club is getting themselves a back up in preperation for the reality that StKilda is likely to be circling.

I selfishly hope we can hold on to him...

Especially as both he and his manager have said he will not coach next year.

Spoke to someone who went to their B and F last night and he reckoned it was down to Watters or Ayres. I find Ayres a bit hard to believe personally, given he's been out of the top flight for 6 or 7 seasons.

His hair is still winning night and day premierships.
