If the Board don't give Ratts a new contract they will be hung drawn and quartered by the supporters.
They would be guilty of leaving Ratts with nowhere to go at this late stage of the season with most Clubs having decided
on a new coach.
The Board would be howled down as their credibility would be lost forever.

It would depend on who replaced him

We sack premiership coaches at Carlton if something better came along Ratts would be cannon fodder

Time for change at board level....if thats where its really coming from.

Things change so quickly these days in the AFL - game styles and personnel - I actually think it's responsible management to keep coaching contracts short term.
That said, I hope we don't fall for Malthouse.
Some bloke on SEN said Malthouse was rumored to be seen at Raheen.
Probably complete BS.

Apparently Glenn Murcutt's pool needs a re-tile and Mick's tendering for the job.

Malthouse to Carlton = Pagan to Carlton and we all remember how good that coaching coup was.

No details, of course.

Whilst it a professional game, and you should always employ the best man for the job, it would make '17' sweeter to see it lifted by someone who is doing it not just for the paycheck and prestige, but for the love of the club.

Well done to Ratts.
