Ross Lyon and Mark Thompson would be the other senior coaches with more experience so 6th most.

who does he coach?

If its 1 year with a 1 year option then it confirms we're more than interested in Malthouse.

Time for change at board level....if thats where its really coming from.

Two years = Number 17 and Number 18.

Things change so quickly these days in the AFL - game styles and personnel - I actually think it's responsible management to keep coaching contracts short term.
That said, I hope we don't fall for Malthouse.

RubbIsh. It shows no belief In ratten. If I were he, and offered a 1+1 contract I'd tell them to shove it.

Interesting listening to Wallsy last night on One Week

If you are a senior coach expect it to end in tears.

Paul Roos was the only example recently of a coach leaving without any strife.

A couple of Bailey-like Melbourne losses and most coaches jobs are on the line.

Well if they are considering NOT renewing Ratts then they are running out of time.

Neeld, McCartney, Sanderson - all big names off the table.

I hope they're making the right choice.
It's taking a big risk by waiting til seasons end to assess Ratts.

If coaching contracts go that way then long term strategies will go out the window as coaches only focus on survival and short term success. There has to be some sort of security to help alleviate some of the pressures that come with an already very stressful job. Not that signing up coaches on ten year deals is a good idea either though

If there are sensible and reasonable KPI's set according to the judged state of the playing list I don't see why contracts should be more than 2 years. I believe that's the basis on which Ratts current contract existed.

Some bloke on SEN said Malthouse was rumored to be seen at Raheen.
Probably complete BS.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. With all the at least 3 year deals being handed out to new and continuing coaches we are putting him in the Voss category.

I think you'll find Vossy in a category all of his own (making).

If the Board don't give Ratts a new contract they will be hung drawn and quartered by the supporters.
They would be guilty of leaving Ratts with nowhere to go at this late stage of the season with most Clubs having decided
on a new coach.
The Board would be howled down as their credibility would be lost forever.

Yep pretty funny  ...just a few top up players away from being a challenger was a pretty crazy notion, without even factoring in what happened after the players arrived and what they had to do to get them.
