I don't remember Gavroman ever having any inside info so you can take it for what it is.

re: Malthouse; Would be disappointed if true but I can understand after 3 finals failures. We should not be happy today.

I know some on here hate Malthouse, but I seriously, seriously rate him as a coach. The only person I would replace Ratts with is Malthouse. While I doubt the rumour is true Malthouse maybe the the ingrediant we need to secure the long awaited 17th.

Ratts reported to be about to sign a two year extension. Congrats Coach!

Though I'm guessing that only two years means malthouse is still on the cards at the end of next year.

Said there's a board meeting today, and they expect that Ratts will be signed shortly.

Quite right

Quote:
CARLTON coach Brett Ratten's contract extension will be discussed at a board meeting this week but he already had clinched it before the agonising three-point semi-final loss to the West Coast at the weekend.
Blues chief executive Greg Swann said the board was united on retaining Ratten, who is expected to win a two -year deal.

"It will be done relatively shortly," he said, with discussions at a board meeting as early as tonight likely. "I cannot see any hiccups."

Swann said the board was not split on Ratten as coach.

"There has been no issue internally," he told SEN. "The board is not split. We said at the start of the year that we needed to improve and we have. And we said we could keep him informed throughout, and we have.

"We will get this done and we march on to next year."

Deserves to get another 2 years -almost everyone on the list has improved -won a final got deperately close on saturday night

Has also improved markedly in the representation of the club off field this year - seems to be more confident in the role over last 12 months

Nice inclusion of the word 'Jeepers' in this weeks letter from Ratts.

'Whispers' on 3aw this evening suggested 1 year with a 1 year option.

If right, it would be very disappointing and completley inappropriate. Ratten should call their bluff and walk.

Two years is what he should get.

cazz - read that over my coffee this mornng and enjoyed every bit of it.

good on ya Ratts!

not many of us will ever experience the public pressure and scrutiny he has lived through this year. He has taken it on amazingly well and deserves respect and acknowledgment.
a) the blues have improved with signs that we are on track
b) he knows we have to continue to improve and grow plus 15% next year = appears to relish the pressure of that challenge
c) he has a family to take care of

Ross Lyon and Mark Thompson would be the other senior coaches with more experience so 6th most.
