Great effort.

Judd surely injured, either way a non-entity tonight
Scotland Simpson Yarran down
A lot of inexperienced players and "goers"
Smashed in Q2 looked overmatched and gorn at times

Somehow managed to do enough to win. Almost

Yeah, I'm proud of them too. I love the Carlton Football Club, and we really had a crack.

But honestly, F**K being proud.

I was taught that at Carlton, we don't aim to be proud, we aim to be great. We aim to make history.

Take Marc Murphy's game. He had 4 shots on goal. Kicked 2.2. Great game. Can be proud of it. But if he kicks 3, or 4, he's played one of the GREATEST Carlton finals performances ever, and written his own history. Achieved greatness.

That's what we're about.

F**K being proud. This should burn and inspire us achieve more.

like this attitude very much.

All you EVER ask is a red hot crack and they all busted a gut tonight.

Considering our outs, their ins, the venue, the "umpiring", i thought they were bold.
But the great sides win those types of games we had, you need
an Akermanis momemt, or a Chapman or a Scarlett moment...we had nearly moments.

With a good run with injuries we should REALLY challenge in 2012, the fire in the belly
must really, really sting them now
and inspire them to greater heights next year......
Would it be unfair for us to catch a few breaks in September, 3 years in a row is a bit galling, putting it mildly !!

And a final word for the Ratten bashers.if we improve as much in 2012 as we did in 2011, we will give them all WINDBURN as we nail number 17 !!

GET ON IT !!!!!!

I didnt give us much hope with Gibbs, Kreuzer, Waite and no real key position forward tonight. Was really proud of some of our guys. But proud of CFC and Brett Ratten. Well done guys. Really hope we take the next step over the next 2 years. Hampson get in at CHF, we need you or someone I hope you can become.

I was mightily pissed off losing but, shit, you've got to be damn proud of the boys.

They fair dinkum put in a gutsy effort and you can't ask for anymore than that.

I think we were one player short of victory - Hammer or Waite would have made the difference.

And now to nurse this friggin hangover

After sleeping (not much) on it all I can say is @#$%&! being proud.

Proud threads belong at Saints, Bulldogs, Norf forums where near enough is good enough. After lambasting Bummers all year, I cringe every time someone labels us as brave.

Yes we've improved from last year and yes we were good last night... but not good enough. We blew a chance to make a prelim final and they don't come around all that often. WC were good and they deserve credit and you can only blame umpires to an extent, but that second qtr was simply not good enough. We won three quarters last night and still managed to lose the game.

Glad to hear Ratts say we'll be active at trade time because it sounds like he recognizes our deficiencies and is sick of falling agonizingly short, again and again. I just hope we can make the right choices this time.

Our window is open NOW... no more excuses... bring on 2012

As women always suggest.....men struggle to multitask.

Can't you be proud of their efforts and still angry/frustrated that we lost. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

You can be proud that they gave it their all and proud that they all still realise there is alot of work to be done from here on in to reach 17.

We are building to be a very good side. We are missing a few pieces of the jigsaw and some good old fashion luck with injuries.

You can be angry/frustrated for all manner of reasons but lack of effort by the team shouldn't be one of them and saying you are proud of their efforts shouldn't make others suggest you are weak and/or excepting of 2nd best.

Regards Cazzesman

Carlton don't play finals
Carlton win premierships

It starts now. Ruthless trade period, draft well, huge preseason.

I am certainly proud of the effort but livid that we missed an opportunity to make a prelim. And the fact that a wooden spooner has shot past us to be in contention when we seem to be building at snails pace is even more infuriating.

We need to make more of opportunities like yesterday. And the mistakes we keep making at the selection table hold us back.

We need to find another quality mid IMO. I just think we still lack one quality mid to add to the rotation. I think the talls we have waiting in the wings could provide the KP's we need

I keep hearing about West Coast's rise from the wooden spoon but I reckon it's a bit of a furphy. Last year they were devastated by injuries and chose to get games into their kids. To compare them to other recent spoon winners just isn't a fair comparison.

If they'd had even half their missing players available (or just Cox and Kerr) they would have finished somewhere between 9th and 12th.

Still a really good rise but not exactly Lazarus like.

I just think we are stretching the "development" excuse too far GWS (not you, the club that is). I think we haven't been ruthless enough and probably fallen short with developing our list. I am mindful that whilst we have certainly come a long way there are always other sides sitting on the upcurve and weagles have certainly made the most off their opportunities this year. I understand that they have benefited from the return of a couple of multiple AA's but I still think they should be sitting behind us, yet there in a prelim and were licking our wounds.

It irks me thats all!
