A bummers view of today's game...

Quote:
firstly MASSSSSSIVE kudos for rats, im not one to watch a game and analyse the tactics of coaches but some stuck out today.

1. Isolating Myers to a lead up forward. they rotated irish man/thorton through him as they knew his weakness is overhead spoiling

2. the forward tag of robinson on fletcher was really significant, fletcher couldnt get free to provide a chop out on betts/garlett which leads me to...

3. getting garlett free with mcveigh :| he was just burning him all day long

4. pushing gibbs forward and working him through heppell, i thought this took heppell away from his game as that loose/rebounding defender and was often caught between going gibbs and that spare man up. today he had his colours lowered, he was cut to shredssss

5. the ability for scum mids to drop off behind the ball and cherry pick the Essendon* tap downs. i saw murphy and carazzo picking them off like an orchard in the 2nd

6. yarrans run through the back was damaging, really disappointed we couldnt apply an effective tag on him.

regardless of what you feel about his ability to coach.....boy oh boy, you have to feel happy for him. he was absolutely rapt yesterday and well done to him.

It would be very difficult to have your job speculated to the degree he has experienced this last 7 - 8 months.

he was thrilled during the post match interview in the rooms with Matty Richardson.

Interesting bluey44 but wrong.... Hurley beat Henderson in the first and then Jamison took hurley for the second by my count. Henderson then took the resting ruck and / or Carlisle when he was down there. Jamison was rock-solid for this game and very important for us.

I'm now of the opinion we've made a huge mistake in making this game seem like a ace for someone at a boardroom vote on Ratt's future.

When i hear phrases like, "certain board members" and "influential Carlton backers" it makes me want to spew.

There's none of this shite at the Pies, Cats, Hawks or WCE.

Where do you hear this crap? What board members??? And what Carlton backers are you talking about??? Sheeesh.

Nice overreaction Moshe.

I heard it from a former Carlton player based in Perth and I heard it in the press. But it would appear to stack up otherwise they'd have signed him up by now.

........, it's not like we haven't had this type of carry on before.

Yep I did notice that they quietly swapped Hendo and Jamo.

Didn't think Hendo was too bad though, Hurley can be tough if he's given even half-decent delivery

Those two, combined with Laidler and Duigan are really starting to become a tight combination.

I doubt T-Bird will be required down back much more now he's a power forward.

He will stay, but if we lose badly this week, there will be people on this forum who will want him gone.

Even if we lose narrowly, they will blame some coaching move of Ratts as proof he should be sakced.

So do you think Ratts will do a Lyon and walk out on us for Port if we don't offer him enough $$ in his renewal?

I wish That muppet on SEN (Kevin "Hungry" Bartlett) would just get off our back about Ratts not being signed yet.

Because KB is still bitter about being sacked in 91 he wants this to happen with every coach.

a) they never get sacked, ever, no matter what

b) they are always signed up at least 3 years prior to their contract lapsing

Coaches can walk though, that is ok, but not to replace another sacked coach.

He would still be coach of Richmond now under his rationale (though surely it wouldn't of been much worse than it has been over the past 20 years).

Whatever length of contract extension Ratten gets, after the last 48 hours nothing is certain

OMG

7 Hours from our biggest match in 10 years and your worried about the coaches future.

No what ever happens, he isn't going anywhere next year. This is the stupidest thread going around, but l guess its a good time waster to speculate on getting a new coach, which wont happen

This thread should be moved to recruitment or talking coaches section :)

No way will i reveal the source but they are adament...lets wait and see.

Ratts should be nervous if we dony re-sign him in the next 24-48 hours...with the season now over, theres no excuse not to re-sign him (unless we dont want him).

Robbo mentioned something about Ratts going on the seven footy show, had only just turned it on. Anyone catch the whole soundbite?
