Juddy had a dirty night. I guess in some ways it's a positive that we got to within a kick of a Preliminary Final without Judd having a good game and with Gibbs, Kreuzer & Waite all out.

It hurts. It sucks. It's footy.

It's hurts even more when you put it that way

So what do we think about Henderson for 2012......back or forward?

has to be down back I think - tall, can defend but more importantly is willing to back himself and create the play.

In the 12 or so games that he has played down back this year, he has shown more than he ever has as a forward. Has huge potential to develop into that role over the preseason and it fills a need.

Up forward, we have 3 X small 40+ goal kickers - imo, we don't need a superstar KPF, just someone that can compete/bring the ball to ground and create opportunities and space.

Any news on T-Bird? Looked like neck/spinal from the way he was strapped in for Ambulance ride.

Fingers crossed he's OK!

Rattens 'active in trade week' comment is a strange one. Who of value who played tonight is going to put up for a trade (s) of substance?

Warnock? No, Hendo? No. Yazz, Eddie, Garlett? No. Duigan, Laidler? No. Judd, Robbo, Murphy? No. Walker Tuohy, Joseph? No

Jamo, Simmo, Scotland, Thorton? No.

So who' s left? Army, Ellard, Carrots, Setanta, Davies. Cant see getting game changing players for those guys and Ellard and Army would be stiff.. The others, meh.

Methinks the disapointment got to him.

To say Carlton went missing in the 2nd shows a lack of understanding of football. You can't dominate 120 min. esp in a final. We weren't playing against witches hats.

Murphy missed 2 gettable shots then kicked 2 from 50.

I thought the coaching was good. The pressure was good. WA had all the luck before and during the game. Kerr was probably the difference between us winning by 5 goals and losing by 3 points.

Why play Davies Ratts???????????? You better have a good answer for this
He played in last year's finals too.
Ratten is too obsessed with him

1 tiggy free paid against - 1 stupid free given away - The rest of his game was good - he hit contests hard and straight and whilst wasn't the best should come back a better player. I don't think that we had a better defensive option that was available

I can only guess you're related to him.

We either needed another runner, or another ruckman, not one in-between that was really going to serve no purpose. Davies was simply a wasted selection.

In hindsight, especially with the loss of Thornton, during the game another tall would've been handy.

Fine - but who was available that had any semblance of form?

Just sitting in the airport after the game.. . Not feeling as bad as I thought I would be... Baffling decisions that hurt us on the scoreboard but the eagles clearance work in the 2 and 3rd qtr was the difference IMO. Kerr was outstanding...

Played our guts out and were a few key players short... Well done robbo, laides, and Hendo... ReAlly proud of the effort..... And I have to say that ground needs to be pulled down..... Absolute disgrace that is circa 1970's facilities....

Hampson looked forlorn and shattered as we walked around the boundary at the end so I hope it's a sign that he's hurting ..... And wants to be a part of the team moving fwd.

Ok I'm rambling now and it's probably time to go.... But just want to say

GO BLUES.... Very proud of our great club today

Of course it was not there fault we lost but kicking those goals would have been the reason we won.

Thanks for a great season Blues

Look out AFL Carlton are coming

Like the rest of you I have put crying kids to bed tonight and I am gutted! Set shot kicking for goal has killed us all year. Whoever taught Walker how to kick for goal last pre-season needs to get busy with half of the list this pre-season. As much as I hate it, the above is true. Simmo/Murph/Carlos kicks straight and we win.

I somehow knew it would happen. Always does away from Melbourne, especially at Subi

Great effort from an undersized & Gibbless Carlton :thanks:

That simply makes the point moot in regards to Hendo, though, if he's staying down back .

I say it depends how the ball is being delivered and how the oppositions going. I wouldn't want to take anything for granted.

This may be unfair, but had we picked up Darling instead of Watson, we would have won this game quite comfortably.

Got the start we wanted, and finished strong like we predicted, but just didn't make them use up enough petrol tickets or play enough catch up football to peg back the lead...

...and so on and so forth.

Also reflecting as I wait for the plane home.

The team has ticker now - and I guess you have to put that down to Ratts. Its obviously a few seasons ago, but remember when we used to just drop our bundle? Now they persist. We saw it last week when the Dons got out to a flier and again tonight to turn around massive momentum late in a final to almost pinch it.

What do we pick up from it? I am not sure the lesson is new - it is Brisbane 09 and Sydney 10 again. Its about making the most of every opportunity, not just the gimme goals missed in games like tonight, but also the soda games we occaisionally drop - the doggies this year (and to a lesser extent the Weagles game at Docklands).

I actually don't think we need a lot of changes to the list. Waite comes in and becomes that key forward, or Watson kicks on and becomes a second key defender, meaning Lachie can go forward, or Mitchell gets through a pre-season and provides a target, or maybe the Hampster becomes the go to man up forward. Even T-Bird showed last week that he is capable of really adding something. I don't think we need to sell the farm to have a big tilt at 17 next year.

CHB. Lock him in. Has shown heaps there this year and will be a gun in a year or two.

He has also made quite a few good attacking runs from defence, so will have a few tricks back there too.

Agreed! So why did we draft Watson?

I have concerns BIG TIME about Watson. Let's hope he's not another Luke Livingstone or Vance
