Why play Davies Ratts???????????? You better have a good answer for this
He played in last year's finals too.
Ratten is too obsessed with him

You guys are kidding yourselves if you're turning on Josh for tonight.

FMD!

I am. I'm pissed off, I need to vent, I'll probably take it back when my head is clearer. But at this moment he can GAGF.

What are you blaming him for though?

Its !@#$%&!

You're right. I should send him a present.

Seriously. He's one of them, I @#$%&! hate them right now. Ergo, I hate him. It's not rocket science.

My harsh call for the night: duigan was poor.
lost below the knees then panicked making decisions and the executing them.
he looked overawed to me.

That is all.

We could have picked another foward tonight. We didn't. You can argue until the cows come home about whether that was a mistake, but for mine Thornton would have been the difference in the second half.

The Premiership window is now open.

That lapse happened because the gust dropped out of the team. All that hard work for no result. Murphy gets those two and we're six in front two minutes into the second. As it was, they went down the other end, got a couple of quick ones and the rest is history. Shout me down all you like but it's true. Good players kick those. There's no excuse.

Our set shots have been atrocious this year (apart from Walker) most of our forwards have missed absolute sitters its very very frustrating.

If anyone thinks the umpires cant be blamed, have no idea about football..

Nic-Nats sling tackle not paid down field (shot at goal)
Walkers non-free when 3 players jumped into him without looking at the ball
Shuey missing the ball when tackled and then kicked it in mid-air (kicking in danger as well to Yarran)
The double goal

Also the smug look on Mongas face..

That's !@#$%&.

#1 draft pick. $500k a year.
You have to get those every time.

Have to say I am absolutely gutted right now. So close but that is not really good enough. There were a lot of reasons why we lost that one people. Maybe it was Simos set shot int the final term. Maybe it was the umps not paying Walks a free right at the death in the goal square. Maybe it was the guy who was ment to be on Darling in the final term, he kicked two goals. Maybe it was Davies two Free kicks in the Goal square, one to La Frog in a two on one contest the other after they kicked a goal to give them a second and momentum. At least we go 2 points out of Murph's kicks.

I was so proud of the way the boys played tonight. We were very hard at it and we have so much to look forward to. Hendo has come on and we will have such versatility with a second key defender we did not have for the entirety of this season. Lots of up side there.

Next year we will be really good. Finally we are coming and I think 2012 will be our year.
I really love Carlton!!!!

J&TK....Davies would be one who shouldn't be in the best 22 next year.

Tuohy has shown he genuinely belongs.

Totally TOTALLY robbed.

Jamieson's spoil in the goalsquare (in the back???) was perfect. Weagles players "handing" the ball to a teammate (throw every time). Cox (or was it Lynch) was caught red-handed (at the edge of our goalsquare) and didn't dispose of the ball properly in that last frantic minute. Tuohy has his arms blatantly chopped on the half forward line. 3rd q - Weagles player brilliantly tackled & dropped the ball ... play on??? Murphy slung by Natanui AFTER he kicked it is a free DOWNFIELD every time.

And so on, and so forth. I'm sure others could add to this list.

The AFL has a real problem on its hands with umpires who let their emotions get the better of them in front of howling interstate crowds. We're not the first team to be robbed interstate and we won't be the last but it's not good enough. The players deserve better.

I've seen quite a few games where interstate teams are robbed in Vic. End of the day there are three vic teams which avoided interstate finals. We need to be in that position next year. No excuses.

I was actually quite proud of myself the way I controlled myself after the end of that game but to see Monga's face and listen to his snide verbal diarohea I have officially lost my shit.

For mine, the turning point was in the 2nd qtr when schuey was tackled hard, had a fresh air kick, biggest incorrect disposal I've ever seen and it was play on and crucial goal that started the momentum swing. Game over. You really can't blame Murphy for those early misses, there was 90 minutes if footy played after that.

Doesn't anyone want to comment on why we continually kicked it long to contests instead of trying ANY other option?

Because Gibbs was out and we missed his composure and creative play at half-forward.

I'm not only talking about long bombs into the Forward 50. I am also talking about long kicks from around the whole ground.
Many times, a handball to a spreading team mate would have been a much better option. It would've meant they would keep possession of the ball, instead of what happened at those massive marking packs. More often than, not if the Eagles didn't mark it, the Eagles would still get the crumbs. This also includes 1 on 1 contests. Tell me how many times we got a mark from a 1 on 1 contest vs how many the Eagles got.

So before tonight you thought he was still a Carlton player?

If he's just one of them, why didn't you single out Andrew Gaff? He's no different to Kennedy.

I'm happy for Josh. I hope for his sake the Eagles go on to win the premiership.

Think the thornton loss was crucial....if you had said to me we will play in a 2nd final at WA after winning the first (and are a genuine chance of winning without WAITE, GIBBS, and KREUZER) and lose by a few points, I would have said no chance.

After the dust settles, Think the club would have been rapt with the improvement and development of players under finals pressure tonight , laidler, duigan, henderson, warnock, tuohy, etc were good in my opninion, and just showed the improvement in the list and think next year will be alot different.

go blues

Brad, seriously, please don't try and rationalise and argue pedantics right now. Just let me stew in my bile.

I can't complain, we were going to get smashed early in the third, but it takes a team to stand up and fight back. Great respect earnt in defeat.

4 of our 8 behinds were very gettable set shots witin 30 metres

- Murphy x 2
- O'hAilpin
- Simpson

We simply have to do better with this aspect of our skills.
