I just have to comment after reading a few threads and shaking my head in wonderment.

I am going to rant....so switch off early.

There are so many comments that have been floating around for years about our bad press and the negative comments and ideals we hold within certain sections of the media/medja.

A lot of people seem so 'put-out' that we don't seem to get a fair go from some medja punters and they get so disappointed when a pro-Essendon or pro-West Coast article is written which does not pump us up or give us much of a mention.

I have to ask this.. quite sincerely.

Why do you care and what does it matter. Do you honestly think anyone in the media is going to suddenly tell you all something that you don't already know in terms of the team, the game plan, the structures, the players or the coaching staff?

Geezus, these buffoons come to blogs to get their stories a lot of the time. I know for a fact they trawl through footytalk.com.au for points of view and supporters perspectives (still yet to hear Riewoldt referred to as N.U.T.S though).. but really - why complain about something that has no bearing on the game or on the team and that you don't already know and understand in your hearts already.

The medja are NOT the be-all and end all of footy commentary. Do you actually take their comments seriously??? If you do, I suggest you stop reading their reports and articles. They are basically pointless.

Did anyone really think that Gibbs was goingto be fine after his shoulder injury, regardless of how many people in the medja (and talkingcarlton insiders) want to tell you he will be?

Does it deserve pages of speculation talking about Cox's injury when no-one will know for sure until 30mins before game time whether he will play or not?

Does anyone actually need to be told that we may struggle against a tall forward line with their big players in it but if we are able to negate their midfield dominance with our own, we have a bloody good chance of winning.

Does anyone not realise that if we run and carry through the lines starting off half-back, we should win.

Is it news to anyone that we need to pressure their young kids in their first finals period to make sure they don't get too much easy and uncontested ball going forward.

I am sure everyone realises our need to control the press in our forward line and to prevent the ball getting over the top on the rebound.

I would much prefer to read intelligent conversation about who may match up on who, for what reason and how effective it may be, as well as plan b's if we need them.

For instance, should Mitch play the defensive tag on Hurn or would woosha expect this so we let Mitch off the chain through the middle?
Are we going to tag Kerr with Ellard?
Will Hampson be used to try and negate the athleticism of Naitanui?
How well is Judd's foot going?
Is Henderson a better match for Lynch or for Kennedy.
Is tuogh going to be a decent replacement for Gibba. Where will he play and what will happen with Yarran. Does he go into the midfield or would this be a waste of his talents?

It's great to see that there has been a lot of lively and interesting debate around these types of issues. Worrying about what the medja say about us is quite pointless.

Believe me people, these idiots in the medja don't know anything that you don't already know.

You owe me an apology for failing to offend me.

I don't care about media / public perceptions. People who do care are being silly.

I care about Carlton winning.

IM WITH YOU 100% CHYNA. Couldnt give a stuff what 798 out of the 800 journos who write on football say. (compared to the 60 covering politics).
And am just bemused by the overreactions on TC to the crap spoken by the medja.

It's important in so much that positive media can have a beneficial effect on supporter and membership growth.
