not sure what hampson will offer on a big ground.
have to go the percentages. hampson has missed quite a bit of footy and has only played two good games in his five years at the club.
I don't think it's his time yet in this game.
tallis aren't going to be as productive as a swarm of hard workings runners.
we need to keep our edge over them with our advantage.

why shift it their way by reacting to them?
let them drop a tall to match our advantage.
why not?
logic says big ground you need dynamic movement on the ground.

Big Knockera v Big Cox

Warnock will ruck 80-90% of the game again and we wont need Hampson.

Change Hammer's name by deed poll to Marcus Davies tomorrow morning.

That way, we can leave it right up until the final bounce to decide which Marcus Davies we put out there. Hey, it's no more dodgy than what the GWS recruiters are doing.

We should have just changed the name of every player in the team to Carlton, GIBBS or Whiskas.

I suspect we don't think Cox will play.

We have been at our best in games when we have gone in with one recognised ruck and a part time back up...this should not be changed even if Cox does play....

For those bemoaning the loss of Gibbsy and the continuing injuries to Krooze and Waitey, consider that we are going to field close to the most in form side that we have put on the park this season. Also consider that the team that played against the Weagles in round 14 was close to our worst for the year.

Sure Gibbsy is a big loss, but let’s look objectively at the other changes:

Firstly Santy has been in better form than Krooze. Tick!

These guys played in round 14 and are either gone (retired, injured or sadly out of form):

Matthew Kreuzer, Bryce Gibbs, Jordan Russell, Brock McLean, Mark Austin, Ryan Houlihan & Rhys O’Keeffe.

Here is that side from Round 14 and have a squiz at just who was missing:

Carlton V West Coast Round 14 June 26th.

B: Zac Touhy, Michael Jamison, Paul Bower

HB: Chris Yarran, Mark Austin, Bryce Gibbs

C: Kade Simpson, David Ellard, Heath Scotland

HF: Jeffrey Garlett, Lachlan Henderson, Ryan Houlihan

F: Andrew Walker, Matthew Kreuzer, Eddie Betts

Foll: Robert Warnock, Chris Judd, Marc Murphy

I/C: Jordan Russell, Andrew Carrazzo, Dennis Armfield, Rhys O’Keeffe

Missing from that match and in the mix to play Saturday night:

Nick Duigan, Jeremy Laidler, Mitch Robinson, Bret Thornton, Setanta o’hAilpin, Aaron Joseph, Michael Jamison (broke down and was subbed off early in match) & Shaun Hampson. Take into account also that Knockers and Hendo were only a game or two into their returns. Hendo played forward and was almost unsighted, but has reinvented himself as a KPD since. The hard nuts who were missing that day include Robbo, Duigs, Laids, AJ, Santy and even Juddy who dragged himself out of bed to play with the flu. There is no doubt that if Hammer plays, he will be invaluable assistance to Knockers and when resting forward, will straighten us up.

Possible team for Saturday night (I adjusted Hendo and T-Bird to where I am sure that they will play):

B: Aaron Joseph, Michael Jamison, Jeremy Laidler

HB: Chris Yarran, Lachlan Henderson, Nick Duigan

C: Kade Simpson, Mitch Robinson, Heath Scotland

HF: Jeffrey Garlett, Bret Thornton, Andrew Carrazzo

F: Eddie Betts, Setanta o’hAilpin, Andrew Walker

Foll: Robert Warnock, Chris Judd, Marc Murphy

I/C: Dennis Armfield, David Ellard, Marcus Davies, Zac Touhy

Emergencies: Sean Hampson, Paul Bower, Jordan Russell

In: Tuohy
Out: Gibbs (Shoulder)

So from last week against the Bummers, we lose Gibbsy and he is replaced by Zach Touhy who shouldn’t have been dropped in the first place, IMHO.

Gibbsy aside, really we are infinitely a better side now and are much better balanced with more talls and guys who can play tall as well as positional changes that have been working. Our defense looks very settled now as opposed to the part timers that we had at our disposal in round 14. I am sure that there will be at least one late change dependant on weather, intel and matchups. I would be very surprised if Hammer didn’t play. We will need him against their super tall jumpers.

Carlton to run them off their legs and win by 4 goals. Go BlueBoyz!

Synners your back and I am excited ! But I think you are wrong here.

Hampson's best games came before he was injured.

West Coast have had a great year including at Subi in no small part because of their talls. And the team of Cox and Nic Nat in the ruck.

Much as we all love the Irishman he is not a ruckman. Pinch hit maybe as against the bummers but not Saturday night against a great ruck combo. I expect the MC are having an even money bet on Cox. If he plays Hampson plays. If not Hampson doesn't.

I would also have played Lucas before Tuohy. As a W.A. boy he knows the ground. I also reckon he shows more poise in tight situations so is more suited to a final at this stage of their respective careers.

IIRC from the last time we played WC.....We need to protect Judd! I don't mean players sacrificing their roles to help Judd but the way the Weagles bumped, manhandled, scragged, held, cheated, and prevented Judd from getting near the ball was ridiculous. Not a single Carlton player tried to block or bump or make the 2 players on Judd accountable.

teddy not having a go at hammer but that form was more than two months ago.
I believe hammer is a great prospect but still unproven. his tapwork isn't great and I'd rather have satanta out there. he contests everything and his enthusiasm is contagious.
I thinks he adds more than people think.

I don't think natanui/cox will be the difference.

Colinngwood don't even have a ruckman and stkilda beat them with mcevoy.

what everyone else does is the crux imo

Mitch is back this time. I am sure he has a plan for those pesky taggers.

Also Laidler showed last week he is happy to run through a few.

Will be a different landscape.

This is at Subi and Nic Nat play's very confidently there.

Need Gibbs to rest up for the Geelong game. Tuohy is an excellent inclusion.
