But don't worry, because when one Dawe(s) closes........

That's it. I'm done.

Remember though, it is only ...... early Dawes.

Some one had to say it.

Nah, too inconsistent.

Dawes wont leave the Pies, wasting our time even talking about it. The forward line in 2012 needs to have Waite, a Resting Ruckman (Kruezer), Walker and hopefully Mitchell will come up. Alongside them will be Betts and Garlett.

Our Backline will be good with a fit Jamison and Henderson as the KPP's and we have plenty of options for the flanks and pockets. Need to ensure we continue to bring good mids into the team as the game is becoming increasingly dependant upon the ability to run and hold onto the ball.

Testimony to the culture we are building if true. I'm really sensing we are on the verge of a dynasty here. Maybe Sticks wasn't so far off the mark with his two flags in five years talk.
Keeping Yaz at the end of next year will be the interesting one.

Why would keeping Yaz be interesting? In saying that hope we are looking t an extension now for both he and Gibbs.

Because every single one eyed Eagle fan over here is adamant they have heard from reliable sources that he wants to come home.
Of course, I tell them to pull their heads out of their butts because it will never happen.
The "interesting" bit is probably for me only, to see if there is any substance(unlikely) to these preposterous claims.
By the looks of it there is none whatsoever.

If he wants to go home badly enough he will go.
BUT
He is or was on the verge of AA selection this year. If he wants to be traded, we have the whip hand or he goes into the draft and ends up at GWS because next year they will have the first pick and a priority pick for not winning a game.
We get a player plus a pick or picks, which could be something Freo gets from GWS so we may well end up with a good player and a first and second rounder. We make sure he goes to Freo and not WCE unless we get Kennedy back or their best and youngest midfielder from next season's results.

We can't keep everybody all the time. GWS may well offer him seven figures at the end of next year as well. If so we get two first rounders for him.

I would hate to see him leave. He is one player I would go to the footy to see even if he didn't play for us. Players of his skills and confidence don't come along that frequently. But we have to face the reality of it all. I posted here a few seasons ago when we got Kreuzer, that in four or five years we wouldn't be able to keep all our players because of the salary cap (at the time I was universally shouted down) and I still think we will have problems. They start as soon as we start winning finals and players' managers look for the biccys to go with the success. The players that screw us as far as the maths is concerned are players like Robbo, Walker and Garlett who have improved so far that their higher salaries wouldn't have been taken into consideration for future planning.

Anyway, next year is a long way off and we shouldn't be worrying about it just yet.
Lock him up ASP just to take away the nervousness and if he says he will wait until the end of next season before deciding, kiss him godbye.

Yarran looks like he is enjoying his footy a lot this year so I hope that's a sign that he is happy in Melbourne and wants at least 1 more contract.

GWS have the right to sign uncontracted players next season, so may angle for Yarran then if we don't sign him. That way, they don't use a draft pick, and we score some.

But any talk of him wanting to leave is surely complete BS, BS. :P

Bloody oath jim. he seems to have a real bond with Jeffy and Eddie, seems to be more generally enjoying his footy, we'll pay him a decent (albeit non-GWS level) salary, the team will be gunning for flags the next three years. No reason not to stay.
