We wouldn't get value in compensation for Hammer. This would probably be bad for Carlton. Our problem comes down to this - none of our 3 ruckmen are good enough 1st rucks, or good enough 2nd ruck / forwards (or durable enough) for us to bed things down. It was the same with Jacobs. He was good and getting better, but not the complete package so he got 10 games and decided to leave.

The injuries have kept our rucks unsettled and haven't allowed a natural hierarchy to evolve so nobody knows where they stand. Add GWS and you might have the perfect storm leading to Hampson walking.

If Hammer goes we'll have to take a project and a mature age ruck when we really need to focus recruiting on other areas. Not a great result.

Gale's Western Sydney Giants?

The odds that a 23 year old and a 36 year old would still be together in 2014 would be slim. :sly:

A quick search through their history shows that poster has had some decent info of late.

Another poster who has also had reliable info suggest we've also offered 3 years.

If you re-read the initial article on Hampson being close to signing a deal he never specifically says "I want to stay at Carlton" unlike Murph did, for example.

Fingers crossed we don't lose him and go from 4 rucks to 2 in as many years.

Hammer reminds me of Prendergast from a few years ago.... you always think they are about to tear a game apart but they can never put it together as they are just not natural footballers. As with Jacobs and Grigg I dont think we will lose too much sleep over him in the future, he will play the odd reasonable game. If he stays he may not even get a game with us, I'd be happy to stick with Krooz and Robbie for the next 3 year assualt.

So it's OK to lose best 30 players such as Hampson and Grigg for under market value?

Hammer would be playing if he was fit. :banghead:

Hampson is inconsistent like that former pick two who didn't have a breakout year until 2011.

Hampson would probably be playing if fit, but Grigg would probably be running around in the VFL if he was still at Carlton.

Irrelevant. Do we get open market value for either? NO

Grigga's size and speed would add more to our midfield structure than Armfield who is purely a defensive mid. Did a lot of blocking and grunt work against Essendon* last year to get in the votes. Richmond have a lot of mids (Foley, Jackson, Cotchin, Deledio, Martin, Conca, etc.) so they possibly haven't played him in the right spot. Think they played Grigg at half back in a few matches.

Nice one.
Apparently she's 36.

Would that be a 36B or 36C?
