Freo won't have anything to trade with. Mitch Clarke from Brisbane is all but gone to Freo this year.

Hottys mate has very strong ties into GWS. If his source is that person I wouldn't doubt him.

Jeanne Pratt has made a deal with the Carlton board for Fevola to be seriously considered to return to the playing list next season.
The above was reported on Melbourne radio today.

We would be the laughing stock of the AFL to do this..........................

This will NEVER happen !!!!!

If you knew his number you could be a real prick and ring him but hang up before he could answer. It would be doing his head in.

or even better put on a dumb voice & pretend you're the recruiting officer from GWS or Richmond

The above was confirmed by a Herald Sun journalist as fact and he is gone.

Paul Bower to Fremantle next year for a draft pick / player.

So what you are saying something along the lines of - Russ had a chat with GWS about crossing at the end of next year and they made him an offer he could not refuse. He then informed the club or they somehow found out and they said they would rather trade this year if that is the case. After that Russ was told he would be a depth player at carlton and will only be used if required. Bower the same as the club know he is wanting to head west.

Hotcox, about a month ago you were very bullish about Malthouse coming to carlton. You used your 'making a statement' tone to announce this quite a few times. Do you still believe this to be the case?

You do realise that some footy journos trawl sites like TC and BigFooty to get their 'scoops'?

FWIW I give up my time to help the Ants on match day. Each week the coaches request a few players to be filmed on an iso cam. I ended up with the job last week and Russell was one of the players I had to film. Now I'm not sure what the coaches do with the footage but I can imagine it is because they review it and see what the players are doing right or wrong and then decide whether they're due for a call up.

So I can't imagine the club would be wasting resources on him if they believe he's going to GWS.

FWIW I thought Russell played really well last week to and was expecting him to get a call up.

Damian Barrett said on the footy show a month or so ago that Russell did a mini pre-season on the Gold Coast when he was originally dropped from the side. I'm pretty sure it's just a fitness this with Russell. If he gets through Sundays VFL final unscathed I can't see why he won't come back in to the senior side.

I take it no one reads the player thread anymore.

There also needs to be a change of Thread title here...this is far from a 'Word from inside the club'. It's pure fiction & chinese whispers.

Something must be up with JR. He's too good to be stuffing around in the Bullants. Sounds like he's either leaving and is being 'punished' or got found that that he was considering a move and is 'earning trust' back. Whatever the go is, he should be playing. .

Why would a player who is contracted for 2012 meet with GWS?

Ratten was correct to say that we wouldn't play anyone who has signed with GWS, but we would gladly throw an "expendable" senior player or two their way to get O'Meara. Even if they played in the finals. And that's not Russell who helped us knock off the Crows with a vital goal this year.

GWS can sign players out of contract next year just like they are signing the likes of Ward and Davis now. So theoretically they could be meeting to line him up to sign this time next year, or perhaps trade for him this year.

I hope the good Doc is on the money though and it is all fitness related.

#Tripod feat

Russell doesn't strike me as a "merc".

If Carlton lose to Essendon* in the first week of the finals then Ratten will be sacked and Malthouse will be the number 1 target to coach Carlton in 2012.

If back pedalling was mandatory in the "Tour De France" you would be a shoe in.

I feel like I'm reading The Sun (the UK one, not ours). You might need to tack on a disclaimer on your signature if you're just going to write up rumour as fact all the time. :?

I can say this, if we want to be top four material we have got to ditch any 'merit badge' type mentality that may still be lurking about. You also don't retain players just because you are lacking 'said' type. That's counter intuitive logic... you ditch them for better ones.
