I know this should be in the Bullants thread, but i cbf going in there lol

Why haven't we given Iacobucci a go?

i've never seen him play, but i've seen him in the best for the Ants a lot.

Not being on Carlton's list might have something to do with it

We don't hear anything in Adelaide about VFL.

I was just asking.

Gee psych, you've got hammer as #1 ruck when apparently he barely contested the ruck with the Ants. Love the big guy to come up, but I suspect he has a way to go. Ruthless Robbie Warnock will be first ruck. McEvoy won't be able to sleep all week knowing the physicval hammering awaiting him.

From the AFL site:

Quote:
Armitage himself could miss the Saints' crucial clash with Carlton at the MCG on Saturday night after being charged with rough conduct against North Melbourne midfielder Leigh Adams.

His poor record means he cannot have the penalty reduced

Cheers ekrem.

Hey Mods, maybe we should move this discussion to the Talking Training forum?

..wouldn't bring in Hampson or Setanta or Waite.. ..missed too much footy the lot of them, Waite's not ready, Hammer's still underdone and the big Setant's not ready.. ..saint's won't be an easy game, and if a player's not solid in the best 22 by the last game before finals, fair chance they ain't fit for finals.. ..bad luck all round, but the time's now run out for those players..

Heard Setanta, Russell and McLean are in the mix.

Among those pushing up from Northern Bullants are defenders Jordan Russell, Setanta O'hAilpin and Nick Duigan.

About bloody time we gave Duigan a game! Wasting away in the Bullants all year. As for O'hAilpin, finally someone recognises that he's been playing as a defender all this time. :banghead:

Duigan? The guy has been a dud in the VFL all year. He hasn't accumulated a single possession for the entire VFL season!

The match committee's selection criteria is bizarre.

You would think that if Lucas and Russell are in the finals plans at all they would be played this week - especially Lucas. To go from VFL to finals intensity AFL is an unfair ask in my book.

Based on Bullants form it's hard to see Hammer getting a run, which effectively rules him out for 2011 unless Warnock gets injured.

I would be extremely tempted to swap Warnock for Setanta and run Kreuzer in the middle 75-80% game time.

If they are not going to play McLean against a slow Hawthorn midfield at Etihad, they're not going to play him at all. St Kilda would be another good match up for him but he just doesn't seem to be on the selectors' radar.

I can't even remember the team which played against Hawthorn, but I am hoping to see Russell, Lucas and Setanta given a run.

There is some heat on for spots int eh bottom six of the squad - I think those blokes will be switched on to hold a spot the following week. Intensity won't be a problem.

Russell will play. All reports suggest he played decent footy last weekend and showed leadership in trying times. He's also been in our best in the last two finals we've played in. He steps up when he's needed.

They want a harder body in the centre. All year they've tossed up between Curnow and McLean, but have had Robbo as a fillip, so they have not needed to commit. Now that Robbo's gone off the boil they will be sorely tempted to play McLean.

Lucas may have left his good form too late. He hasn't played AFL for a long time now.

And as for O'Hailpin, he's a proper target up forward, effective or not. He was playing some decent footy before he hurt his hand. The forward-line hasn't really been working and he's just about the only option there...

I think all four of them could come into the side and add something. Russell would be my definite, though. One of Joseph, Armfield, Davies or Ellard to make way.

Yep. Russell, O'hAilpin and McLean were the big chances I'm told. Jamison should be right as long as he trains ok later in the week. Disappointed Lucas wasn't mentioned but so be it, guess the focus must be on a big pre-season for him already.

Agree we need another inside mid, guys like McLean, Curnow and Ellard are not superstars and I can see why Brock was left out of the WA trip but most of the time this year our midfield has been much better with two of these guys in given Judd and Robinson more freedom to be themselves so to speak.

Iacobucci is 25 now and played with Collingwood before they delisted him.
He is a tough nut but a tad slow for the next step IMO. You are right though; he is an excellent VFL player and leader!
