He certainly did all he could have to knock Ratts off his high horse today...

He certainly was and looked extremely fit. He really enjoyed himself. Plenty of high 5's

Mr Ratten was watching on as well

Did Jamison play today for the Bullants ?

If so, my concern would be why Jamison allowed Fev to kick 10 !!!!

Don't concern yourself Outback Blue, my understanding is that Jamo was on Fev until 1/2 time - Fev kicked 3 on him....

Shit yeah!

It'd be great to get back to the days when fev used to kick 6 goals a week. In a losing side.

Exactly at what point of time did he look fit?

fev in our current side makes us a contender. Fev in our side next year, who the hell knows. I hope he gets another crack at AFL. If every other f#%-up in the AFL deserves their redemption, then surely Fev deserves his

Well if you award quote of the year for stupidity it is. He kicked 6 a week in a losing side.....because the losing side was shit. Don't reinvent history with pathetic analysis.

I can just picture everyone tentatively circling this thread, pondering whether to put in an opinion for fear of being howled down.

We've all had a love hate relationship with Fev ever since he kicked 12 in the Millenium game.

He's been a destructive influence on the club, and a source of great joy. I hate his self absorbed arrogance and his European soccer style celebrations. I'm still angry at him for pissing it all away. I cant believe I still have a soft spot for him. I am happy for him that he's on fire in the VFL.

Our hopes are up at the moment because we're a very good side, but recent weeks have suggested we're fragile, and I'm fearful of how we'll do in the finals ahead. We need a full fit list (especially Jamo and Waite) to be competitive against the best sides, and we have holes in our structure, not the least of which is the absence of a power marking forward. The young candidates we have for this role dont impress me (sorry Hendo and Hammer) although they may improve to be adequate or even very good over the next couple of years.

If he finishes the VFL year on a good note I'd pick him up. Rookie listed and minimum salary almost nothing to lose. Great insurance. If the young guys are going to be that good let them show it and keep him out of the side. If he bursts down the barn door like we know he can, then he earns his spot. He may likely get offers elsewhere (especially from GWS) but his heart is still Carlton and I love that he feels like this.

I know I sound like an abused wife that keeps taking her partner back despite everyone telling her she's mad. Admit it. How many of you think we could pinch the flag next year with a fit and firing Fevola in the side?

I cant see it happening because I cant see Ratts backing down on this. But its tantalising! Good luck to Brendan anyway.

Good post, feel the same way. Our best team at their best is very good, but we're clearly lacking in quality key position players that are ready to have an impact. The Hawks are the 3rd best team and their depth is clearly stronger than ours.

We have 3 years tops to contend with Judd near his best. This is the most lop-sided season ever, the teams below us won't be so bad for long. Look at the ladder, there are some good young lists at many of those clubs. Look at Collingwood and Hawthorn - they have the talent, the youth and the resources to stay up there for another 5 years. The pressure is on to get results soon, no doubt.

The club needs to be honest in assessing where they're at and consider all avenues to take the next step to true premiership contention.

It's Fevola's fault that he's a two time loser and a cancer on clubs.

At least he's good with the fans and kids who still tell him that he's a legend.

Can't believe this is still going on...

The main crux of bringing him back is a very, very big "IF". If he can keep himself out of trouble, if he can chase and tackle, if he can accept less dollars, if he can apply a team ethos, if he can prove he's grown out of his tantrums, and so on. They're all very big ifs. IF he'd have done these things, he wouldn't be on the outer at our club, he'd still be running around for us.

Ratten, as recently as the other day, had come out, yet again, and said it's a no-go. Fevola had two opportunities at playing AFL (and several chances within those opportunities), two more bites of the cherry than most of us ever dreamed of having, and more chances at redemption than most of us would have ever had with anything. It's a footballing tragedy, and for the romantics on here (there are quite a lot, hence the number of threads and suggestions to take a punt on him), it would be a great story. The reality is, he's done at AFL level. At 30 years of age, history of a wide range of off-field offences, and recovering from an alcohol problem, I'd be very, very surprised if any club picks him up. For mine, he's lucky to even be playing in the VFL. Again, that's one more opportunity that someone else won't get.

We all wish Fevola the best in his footy, and moreso his life, but there comes a point where you cannot offer people anymore chances. Good on Ratten for sticking to his guns on this one, I hope it stays that way.

Best of luck to Fev for Casey in the VFL.
