Should be fun, I'll see you there.

Any TCers attending today would be great if you could tweet about the event using the #socluncheon hashtag and if you take pictures and videos please share them with us via twitter facebook or youtube.

Had a great day chatting with everyone today, great to catch up with some regulars and a few I haven't seen for a while.

Looking forward to seeing the video of the day, Malcolm and Tammy's reactions to the fabulous story will be priceless!

I'm pretty good at lipreading...Tammy kept insisting she 'can't remember that'...but they were really good sports...particularly with all the 'F' words coming from Marcou...great story made all the better because the Frasers' were there.

Stoked to get a pic holding the '81 Premiership Cup...definitely the highlight of the day.

Hi murray,

Hopefully we should have some video clips of the event soon.

In the meantime, we are building up a gallery of pictures from the day,

If anyone here went on the day and would like to contribute pictures or videos to our gallery please contact me via admin@spiritofcarlton.com

Who was in charge of adding up the '81 Carlton score?

Harmes must have been busy playing in two jumpers in 82. Dominator must have been in stealth mode.

While it probably isn't too newsworthy in the greater scheme of things - recent developments re: the Spirit of Carlton and how it operates, coupled with what it represented on match days is newsworthy for me and perhaps some others whom enjoyed the direction we presumed it was going. To cut to the chase - the SOC will be returning to a more traditional past players setup and much closer relationship with the club...which is a decision I understand, but one I'm not entirely pleased about.

As yet, I'm not sure how the club will set up the Spirit of Carlton with regard to membership and entitlements for next year...but from all reports - it looks as though match day tickets and function room stuff will be dropped. In all likelihood, most of the Spirit of Carlton will be past player focussed and organised with the clubs assistance.

No doubt someone from the club will contact those of us who signed up over the last couple of years as SoC members when they want our hard earned. SoC received a 4-figure sum in total from all events (golf day / tickets / match-day auctions / luncheons etc) from me last season. Obviously that won't happen this year. That was in part because I knew exactly where my money was going.

- Facilities for the current playing group / Assistance for past players and officials in the form of ongoing welfare and support activities (medical support, hardship support, general support) / Preservation and promotion of the history of the club.

Unfortunately, it was evident the SoC and a few within the club weren't on the same page throughout 2011. And so - while it'll no doubt still be around - for the average supporter who felt this was a preferred option for their money to go - it stops.

R.I.P Spirit of Carlton

Thanks for the memories.

geez thanks for that Doc - I was intending to take out SOC membership for the same reasons as you (knowing where the money went) but I guess I'll have to reconsider

Agree with Doc. Disappointing and will be interesting to see what happens. I also put a lot of hard earned into the SOC this year as i knew it was always about the club and its players.

You more than most Psych...it's a bit like living in upstate New York...new money is accepted, but still not that welcome.
